Celebrating Twenty Years of Loving Food

Central Market has always been a different sort of grocery store, starting with their globe-trotting team of Partners who were given the mandate to discover and taste the fresh market bounty from around the world. With the passion and perseverance of this pioneering team, the first Central Market opened on a unique bit of Austin land in 1994, and a food revolution was born.

Now, twenty years later, they are still cooking, but not even close to being done, and well, that’s for celebration. So let the party begin… Starting on September 10th and running for the next twenty days Central Market will be celebrating food, life, and you, their customers, with specials and special guests in every store.

There are a few can’t miss items, and the first of those is the commemorative 20th Anniversary cookbook filled with over 120 of the tastiest recipes from dedicated Central Market shoppers, guest chefs and store Partners, the book will resonate with cooks everywhere, from passionate foodies to culinary professionals. Recipes include seasonal offerings such as, Fresh Pears and Figs with Gorgonzola and Honey, Piri Piri Grilled Shrimp, and Spring Lamb Chops with Minted Fruit Salsa to name a few. Books will be available in stores beginning on Wednesday, September 10th.

Central Market has also collaborated with Wüsthof Knives for a special knife and cutting board set that is specially monogrammed to celebrate not only our twentieth anniversary, but also Wüsthof’s 200th (wow!). And one more favorite item for our special anniversary, is a heritage barbeque sauce made by Stubb’s Bar-B-Q in Austin, last made twenty years ago with a mix of tangy tomatoes and old-fashion sorghum for just a hint of sweetness.
