Let’s be real, all anyone is talking about or dedicating their time to right now is Restaurant Week. Special chef menus, money for a good cause and the chance to be on the in-crowd of Instagram posting pics of your perfectly angled plate…who could resist? Well, if you missed out on a reservation or are just looking for something else to chow down on, then I have a few suggestions for you this weekend.
Friday, August 15th
Usually, the crowds flock to Peak & Elm on Fridays for free margaritas, but the kind people behind this Mexican establishment are stretching the offer for the entire week. Go today, tomorrow, or every day left of the week to see how many frozen tequila drinks you can hold down. But let’s be responsible and get some substance in your stomach before we start dancing on tables. Good thing Peak & Elm is rolling out a $15 three-course meal for this week only. If margaritas end up not being your thing (get out of Dallas, you don’t belong here) then it’s BYOB at this great stop.
Nasher Sculpture Center brings back Til Midnight with a free concert and movie showing in the Dallas Arts District. Plop down with specialty picnic baskets and grab & go snacks from Nasher Café by Wolfgang Puck, but only after you take part in progressive tours, social media scavenger hunts, and family friendly entertainment in the Nasher Garden. Members have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary refreshments and light bites in the exclusive Lincoln Lounge. Whiskey Folk Ramblers take the stage 7 pm and Where The Wild Things Are will start screening at 8 pm. Best part is: Tickets are FREE!
Saturday August 16th
Hatch Chile Fest at Central Market will come to an end soon, so that means you should get your hands on all the pepper-filled products they have to offer while you can. Choose from already prepared meals or artisan goods to spice up your recipes at home. Pull out the grill and throw a dinner party by the pool because as always you can expect blazing temperatures perfect for drinking, eat and soaking up some rays.
Sunday August 17th
Sunday is a day to indulge before your diet restarts on Monday. That being said, you should get your ticket now for Frozen! Ice Cream Lovers Tour courtesy of Dallas Bites Food Tour. From 1 pm to 4:15 pm, you can icy treats of Afrah Gelato, Chocolate Secrets’ ice cream bar, Steel City Pops, Carnival Bakers and some chocolate nibbles from Dude, Sweet Chocolate. $42 will you bus transportation, the food samples, tour guide, beverages (it’s BYOB as well), soft drinks, water and more.
Even though most enjoy their Sunday as a day of recovery, we both know you are about to dive into brunch with the appetite of a baby great white (I had to make one Shark Week reference). Hit CBD Provisions for a Crunch and Brunch at 9 am where you can burn calories at a one-hour Core Fitness VITAL class followed by a healthy brunch buffet including a brunch cocktail. Valet is complimentary and the package deal rings in at a low $35. Space is limited so sign up here, call 972-759-3390 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
