    The spouse and I celebrated Bastille day at Sushi Sake in Richardson. It went like this: Yakitori, gyoza, negimaki, o toro sashimi and sushi (uni, hamachi, tako, unagi and a spider roll). All delicious and carefully made. The restaurant was surprisingly busy on an early Monday evening, but service was attentive and efficient.

    Is it possible for the SideDish twitter account to look any more amateurish than they do right now while trying to interact with Hugh Acheson? What an embarrassment that must be for the magazine. Saying “Fuck You” to a fairly well-established chef while trying to capitalize on the quasi-fame that Tesar’s tiff with Brenner has brought you and then and then complaining about his sense of humor when he’s not amused is not exactly the best look. But umm, great job intern, or whatever other low-paid social media manager is running the account.

    Oh, I ate at Zoli’s, Hattie’s, CBD, OSK, and Method. All were good as always. CBD has really settled into one of the more comfortable places in town to stop by for a drink or a bite of perfectly prepared food.

    No, that was me and you are correct. However, our twitter account was copied on all of the tweets. Yesterday, several Dallas chefs emailed and texted me FU notes as a joke. I was working when I noticed the tweets and tweeted in the spirit of fun. which was not the right choice. I’m sorry if I offended anyone and I regret the total stupidity of my judgement.

    Add me to the list of the ‘I hate Knife’ patrons. First time visit, probably will not be back. All wrong, odd, and pretentious starting at the hostess stand, to the over my shoulder rushed service, to the menu, to dessert. I could not get out of there fast enough. We tried the shrimp, black truffle salad, had a small selection of the bacon and beef jerky, wedge salad, and key lime dessert. Don’t waste your time, too many other choices, i.e. Spoon being one.

    I have always wanted to be Italian. Most non-Italians want to be Italian at some point in their life. Either they go to Italy and witness it’s captivating beauty, or perhaps a 20th viewing of The Godfather Pt.1 does the trick. The closest I’ll ever come to being The Don is going to Carbone’s. Watching my kids happily slurp spaghetti with meatballs while I order from their excellent wine list and from the limited yet deliciously prepared menu (it is Nonna’s sister restaurant) makes me as close to an Italian Papa as I’ll ever get. Check out the fish (there’s only one) or the sausage with beans. Wines by the glass are great, both red and white. Make sure and start with your Oregonian aperitif, Sessions Lager (from Hood River). Notice the Multi-generational tables around you? No accident.

    It’s ok, NN! What we do in a Dallas for recreation is eat and drink. When we’re not eating and drinking we read about eating and drinking. It’s all good.

    Ate at La Duni (I now y’all weren’t fans most recently of the tres leches cake, but I’d happily eat only Nutella cake for the rest of my life), Taj Chaat House, Zoli’s (looks like I wasn’t the only one) and Emporium Pies. Also, for DIY-ers, the jalapeno cheese bread at Village Baking makes great peanut butter sandwiches.
