Farm to Market Report: Weekend of April 11

It’s time to pick up your aprons and knives and head over to one of the many farmers markets this weekend. Stop by the Grand Prairie Farmers Market for a cooking demonstration and to experiment with a new recipe, made with only the freshest produce and goods.

Coppell Farmers Market: Load up on your cancer -fighting vegetables such as kale, arugula, Chinese cabbage, bok choy, Swiss chard, petite mustard greens, and collards. These vegetables are also also known to help fight inflammation and promote digestion. In that case, bring an extra bag or two and start eating your veggies!

Also, take a look at the Coppell Farmers Market’s 4th annual Farm to Table Dinner on June 7.

Four Seasons Market (Fairview): If you’re going to a dinner party and need an appetizer to bring, head over to the farmers market; they’ve got you covered. With plenty of local artisan cheeses by Brazos Valley Cheese or European-style chocolate by Voulez Chocolate, you are bound to impress the guests with your goods of choice.

Grand Prairie Farmers Market: Central Market’s Chef Otto will be hosting a cooking demonstration at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday. Also, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., a ‘Make It and Take It Rain Barrel’ class will be offered. This class will cost $40 for Grand Prairie residents and $55 for non-residents. Grapevine Farmers Market: Today is opening day at the Grapevine Farmers Market, so stock up and get ready to shop. Put your Birkenstocks on and head over to Grapevine Grains for your homemade granolas, muesli, oatmeal, and fresh stone-ground mixes.

Historic Downtown McKinney (Chestnut): In honor of Arts in Bloom taking place on the McKinney downtown square, the artist Julia Forsyth will be painting at the market this Saturday. Bring your kids to the farmers market this weekend. There will be a chance to make Easter pails to collect candy from the vendors, pony rides, face painting, and balloon artists.

Little D Farmers Market: As the weather gets warmer, the ice cream cravings start increasing. Kelvin Kreations, who makes nitrogen ice cream sweetened with local honey and made with local ingredients, will be available at the farmers market this weekend. Also, no need to go to France to find a homemade macarons, you can find it at Little D by Joy Macarons.

Saint Michael’s Farmers Market: This farmers market is rolling in some of the finest goods in town. Check out gluten-free items brought to you by My Gluten-Free Friend, Italian desserts and pasta sauces by Dolci Creazioni, and Mother Shucker‘s tamales and casseroles. Alongside these delicious homemade goods, live music will also be provided at the farmers market.
