Booze-ing and brunch-ing. That’s what’s happening in Dallas this weekend. From the Big Texas Beer Fest to a DIY Bloody Mary bar-cart, we’ll all be needing some serious hydration after this weekend.
Summer will creep up faster than we know it, so start by getting in shape with a “Healthy Dishes, Great Flavors” cooking class at Sur La Table today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You will learn how to make dishes with exceptional flavors by using seasonal vegetables and bright herbs and seasonings. Reserve your place online. $69 per person
Deep Ellum is hosting the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, a free outdoor ‘street party,’ this Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The festival will feature over 200 artists and three outdoor stages with performances by over 100 bands. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of eclectic food and drinks offered all throughout the weekend.
Calling all beer lovers: This may not be up to Oktoberfest standards, but the Big Texas Beer Fest this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Fair Park Automobile Building will host over 90 breweries with over 400 craft beers. Now that’s a whole lot of beer. Food trucks and local artisanal food will also be available to pair with your beer. (Update: Tickets are sold out, but maybe you can ask your friends if they’ve got extra.)
As if the Big Texas Beer Fest wasn’t Texan enough, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. had to have a BBQ and beer tasting event this Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Rahr-B-Q will feature Cousins BBQ, Grill King Burgers, beer tastings, and a performance by Texas country rock band, Eleven Hundred Springs. $10 per person plus cost of food.
Head over to Empire Baking Company for its first celebrity Pop-Up Pastry Bake Sale benefiting Voice of Hope, a Christian community center, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Chef Katie Brown of Experimental Table, former chef at George Restaurant, will be the guest celebrity pastry chef showcasing her artistic desserts.
Head over to Chic Sunday Brunch at Lounge 31 for a DIY Bloody Mary bar-cart, half price bottles of champagne, and new brunch menu items. Brunch never sounded so delicious as it does now with a DIY Bloody Mary.
If coffee is the only thing getting you through the day, learn how to become your own pro barista at Weekend Coffee’s home brewing class from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. This free home brewing class is offered every first Sunday of the month, teaching you farm and processing methods, and roasting and brewing stages.
