Christmas/New Year’s already seems eons away, and I’ve already been getting Valentine’s Day menus  from PR people. What’s. Up. With. That. Alas, time moves quickly and without fail. So onwards we go. Into the wild, wild weekend. Actually, this one’s looking pretty sedate. Sorry, dudes.

FRIDAY

AF+B opens today in Fort Worth. I’m ready to try some of that chile rubbed pork chop.

At Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, you can try a bunch of different Cabernet Sauvignons, from South Africa to Australia. Each reservation is $55 plus gratuity, and the tasting starts at 6 p.m. inside the private tasting room. Call 214.366.2000 if you’re interested.

SATURDAY

Matt Shelley is a year older. Happy birthday, you weird, weird man! I know you will consume a lot of beer.

The Hotcake Hustle is basically a 5K/10K/Fun Run that involves A) running and B) pancakes provided by The Original Pancake House. Lucky for you, you don’t need to eat and run at the same time. There’s live music, children’s activities, and a guaranteed good time. It all starts at 8 a.m. at the Addison Circle Conference Centre.

The best solution to crummy weather is drinking tea. I’m a huge proponent of this. That’s why James Orrock, the CEO of Single Origin Teas, is holding an intro class at 11 a.m. to teach people how these leaves work. Will they tell your future? I think not. But you will get to enjoy natural honey and some banana bread, courtesy of Orrock. This soothing time takes place at the Trinity Haymarket LLC.
