Origin Natural Food is re-opening as Original Kitchen + Bar. This means it’ll be closing temporarily for a short remodeling session, while the casual coffee place and eatery becomes “a full-service restaurant and bar in the same location.” There will still be coffee (yay!), but now you can order breakfast and lunch. “Dinner hours will accommodate guests in a traditional seated restaurant style,” says the press release.
Craft beer expert Stephen Beaumont will be here tomorrow, October 8, to sign his book (The Pocket Beer Guide: The Essential Handbook to the Very Best Beers in the World). Get cheese and chocolate pairings, along with some fresh brew when you buy a $40 or $35 ticket for this event. To purchase, call 972-226-0725. It’ll be at the Flying Saucer on the Lake at 4821 Bass Pro Drive in Garland. Don’t miss this chance to bask in the presence of a beer bigshot.
The Rustic opens on Wednesday, October 16. The same dudes who opened Bowl & Barrel and Mutts are fixing to impress Dallas with its all-Texas-sourced, all-the-time restaurant at 3656 Howell Street. Matt Balke (previously of Bolsa) is running the executive chef show at the Rustic, and Sharon Hage has helped develop the menu. I’ll be first in line for that peanut butter homemade pie.
