If you are going to do a trendy food thing, you better do it REALLY REALLY well. The revamped menu at Chicken Scratch is great, and the Chicken and Waffles (#foodtrend) went right ot the top of my favorite dishes in dallas. Chipotle maple syryup, fresh coconut on the waffles – it’s like what you always imagine State Fair Food will taste like (but never does). Combine with the bad ass outdoor space and on Sunday, an incredible local band (The Effinays) and you have an A+ Feedback.

Truck yard- best cheesesteak in Dallas…awesome atmosphere too. Only minor complaint was the need for better truck variety (maybe something sans bread).

Taverna Rosso in Plano – Went for a quick lunch so only had time to try the salad/9″ pizza special for $9.99. This is a great deal actually. The salad was spinach and arugula, pancetta, blue cheese and red onion. It was tasty but my suggestion to the kitchen is to slice the red onion very thin. Thick slices of onion at lunch time is not appealing when you know you have a whole day of talking to people ahead of you. The pizza was a sliced beef, caramelized onion-garlic and roquefort. It was perfectly cooked but flavor wise it was lacking. I couldn’t figure out what should be added but the way it is now is kind of bland. You wouldn’t think that would be the case with the ingredients used but it was bland. Service was friendly and efficient.

Eatzi’s in Plano – Went there twice. Purchased too many items to mention but the best is the beef sliders, the potstickers in the sushi section and the white chocolate apricot bread. Least favorite is the people who shop there. So self absorbed and rude.

Drinks and apps (hummus/salmon bruschetta/cheese) at Ten Bells Tavern before a movie at the Texas Theatre – great service, great weather, great food. Total win.
After the movie, a late dinner at Boulevardier, which was still hopping at 9:45pm. The sweet corn soup was a little thin, but the duck leg cassoulet never disappoints. I’ll be eating leftovers with a fried egg for breakfast tomorrow. Or dinner tonight.
