Making Dallas Even Better

  • Fowler Nordheim

Before a concert on Tuesday evening at the Dallas city performance hall, we had a quick dinner at The Greek. We ate at the bar because the restaurant was busy with families, businessmen and concert-goers. The grilled lamb was good as were the drinks. A little pricey but we will return.

You could hear the sound of crickets when we walked by the other restaurants in Arts Plaza.

A “bonus” Harvest Moon Cafe Momentum dinner took place last night at The Wine Poste–a great event space and specialty wine shop. The space is excellent for large or small events, and was the perfect setting for the family-style Cafe Momentum dinner. Several program alums were in the house, greeting guests, serving food and assisting with dinner prep. Chefs Matt Ford, Graham Dodds and Chad Houser were joined by Pitmaster Justin Fourton (Pecan Lodge) showcased locally sourced produceds and worked their magic on two full Red Wattle Pigs. The Nose to Tail preparations included porchetta, head cheese and trotter torchon, smoked ribs (my favorite), smoked hams, pulled pork (which passed muster with the North Carolinians at the table) and Chicharrones –by the end of the meal we’d christened the evening “Porknado.” After perusing the wine room, I’ll be back for shopping at The Wine Poste–and have marked my calendar for October’s Cafe Momentum!
