Mesa Veracruz Coastal Cuisine, the tiny little restaurant in Oak Cliff that has struggled for life, is opening a second location in Southlake. According to Jaret Reyes, daughter of co-owners Raul and Olga Reyes, the restaurant will go into the space formally known as Buffalo Cantina (2801 E Southlake Blvd).  ”We are keeping the same menu same food and mom will be cooking for both places,” says Jaret. “The Southlake location  kitchen is way bigger.” There are more details coming later but Reyes says the menu will be the same food they serve on Jefferson Ave.

Just last June, I noticed this post on Jaret Reyes’ Facebook page: “Business is horrible. Mesa will be closing pretty soon if our sells don’t go up :( ” I contacted Raul and he told me people had the idea that Mesa was busy all of the time so they didn’t make an effort to make the drive.

I suppose they got the word out and business returned. It certainly seems like a risky move to jump out to Southlake and try and cook in two locations.
