Wow, this is really, really, really, really sad. I just watched the entire live streaming of the James Beard finalist announcement with butterflies in my stomach, hoping to hear them nominate some of our seven semifinalists from Dallas. Sadly, the only good news I can report is the JBFA’s nod to Alice Laussade’s “The Cheap Bastard’s Ultimate Guide to Eating Like a Total Cheap Bastard in Dallas” in the Dallas Observer. Very well deserved.
But nobody else from Dallas is on the finalist nominee list this year. (How could they not consider Jason Maddy, Teiichi, Stephan Pyles and all the other restaurants as finalists?! Not cool, JBFA, not cool.)
Whatever. At least we have one victory to celebrate.
