A Note to Restaurants Giving Out Free Food and Drinks to Voters: Apparently, It’s Illegal

According to the Politico, all the voting-related freebies being handed out today are not in compliance with federal law. Drats. This means that my plans to retrieve free guac and chips from Taco Bueno have been thwarted by the mighty hand of Ms. USA.

Election Day Specials: Where to Eat and Party After You Rock the Vote

If you haven’t yet, check out Frontburner to see what’s been happening at all the polls. My coworkers are currently howling about not receiving any “I Voted” stickers. I, on the other hand, am still fuming about my terrible two-hour wait in Carrollton. At least this chocolate caramel cupcake that I have for breakfast is helping. Food is comforting, especially after voting. On that note, I have a list of places you can visit today for some great deals. And, if you still need a place to watch the election results, don’t forget you can still buy $5 tickets to D’s Election Night Live at the Granada Theater. It starts at 8:30 p.m.

Afrah Restaurant
314 E. Main St.

Wear your “I Voted” sticker today during lunch and get a free gelato (Sorry, Liz, I guess you’ll be missing out.)

Blue Goose Cantina
11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
All five Blue Goose locations.

The Blue Goose Cantina will celebrate Election Day with an all-day $5.00 Red and Blue margarita special.

The Refrigerator Challenge: Top Chef Season 10 Contestant John Tesar

Whoa! Call a body language expert! Tesar is trying to tell us something!

The premiere of Top Chef’s tenth season airs Wednesday night on Bravo at 9PM. Dallas has three (out of 21) contestants on the show: Danyele McPherson (The Grape), John Tesar (Spoon), and Joshua Valentine (FT 33).

I’ve asked all three chefs to send me photos of their refrigerators and answer a questionnaire about their food-storing habits. Yesterday, Danyele McPherson filed her report. Today, John Tesar took time from his busy 48/7-schedule to provide a brief look into his unique fridge. Tesar’s new restaurant, Spoon Bar & Kitchen is opening in a few days.

Jump for the joy of John. He must have zucchini, Champagne, and baby toys.
