Truluck’s in Addison is Closed. McKinney Avenue Location to be Rebuilt

The good news is stone crab season opens today and the shipment for the area locations of Truluck’s are at the airport at this moment. The bad news is they won’t be served in Addison anymore. Last night was the last night for the venerable seafood spot.

Managing Partner Bo Dorton just confirmed Addison is gone. “I opened this spot over 16 years ago,” he said. “It’s a sad day for sure but we are going to absorb the staff at the new building we’re building on McKinney.

The new building will go in behind the current location across from the Hotel Crescent Court. Plans have already been submitted to the city and they expect the larger restaurant to be up and running next summer.

  1. Now all I can think of is going down the street for stone crab, which I now cannot do, and rarely ever did.

  2. Hopefully, a really good New Jersey/Pennsylvania/Connecticut/New York style Greek owned and run diner will take their place.

    But, I doubt it!

  7. Will the old location be razed and replaced with the new building or will the old diner be kept where it is?

  8. correction. dmagazine quoted bo dorton as saying “It’s a sad day for sure but we are going to absorb the staff at the new building we’re building on McKinney.” word on the street (from the inside) is that the uptown location is making addison employees go through an application process all over again. applications, drug test, interviews, etc. in my mind, absorption means something different.

  9. Not surprising. They stopped lunch service a few years ago in Addison… Think about that one… Their lunch service was always busy when I was there, and it was popular with the local business crowds. Perhaps another victim of a landlord?
