Sneak a Peek at Park Tavern, the Gastropub Inside The Shops at Park Lane

Park Tavern opened in early August, but the sleek interior of this contemporary gastropub still smells like fresh wood. Last night we sent our photographer, Melisa Oporto, to the restaurant’s VIP Grand Opening event to see what this bar/restaurant/place-you-can-watch-sports-while-eating-bar-food is all about.

  1. I just happened to stop by there Saturday night after shopping. I had no idea it hadn’t officially opened. Our service was terrible, but I think it was just the one bad waitress. Everyone else who checked on us was very nice and informative. I had the red pepper hummus and it was amazing. It was a pretty decent size portion for the price. It was spicy and smooth (not overly chunky of mayo-laden) and came with an even spicier olive and red pepper relish. You had a choice of two dip delivery vehicles: cucumber sliced longways and toasted flat bread. The flat bread plenty crisp but overly oily, so I was glad to have the healthier option of the cucumbers.

My friend tried the black bean soup, which was good, but really thick. The consistency was that of Gloria’s black bean dip. Still, for bar food, you can’t really complain. The appetizer menu has octopus on it. I’d go back.

  2. Thank goodness those other images are there, because that first image of what looks like a drop-down video screen and some sad holiday lights just makes the place look depressing. Was that the employee break room or something?

  3. The service was horrible and the food wasn’t anything to get excited about. I can’t imagine people talking about it much once its not new anymore.

  4. I came to Park Tavern and was very happy with both the service and the food. I had the beer can chicken and was not only full, but i was happily full. The food was great and the beer selection was very eclectic and awesome. I started with an I.P.A. and finished with a great cocktail. This place will be a destination spot in Dallas. Good stuff all around.

  5. I went a couple of weeks ago, and the apps and drinks (esp. the ginger one) — and the bacon ice cream dessert were great. My only complaint is that it’s really really loud in the restaurant — almost like it’s a warehouse with nothing absorbing the sound. If you want to watch a game, go here. For a nice night out with friends where you want to catch up (and actually hear what people are saying without shouting), I’d go somewhere else a tad bit quieter.

  6. Went there the other night. Had the Mexibano and the shrimp bahn mi. Very good
    Great beers
    Amazing patio once weather breaks
