KRLD Restaurant Week 2012: Reader Reviews

Dishers, it’s the most wonderful time of the year: KRLD Restaurant Week 2012. The event started last Friday with 59 restaurants hosting preview dinners. If you attended a preview dinner, give us a review below.

Each day SideDish will have a space for you to write reviews of your experiences. We want the good, bad, and the ugly. We also want pictures, especially of great servers. If you have a great service, ask for the servers name and snap a photo. We will recognize them here.

Many restaurants still have dinner reservations and some are doing prix fixe lunch specials. Here’s a list. Go out and support our local restaurants. Your dollars will help the North Texas Food Bank and the Lena Pope Home. Remember to tip your server. We will also take you reviews by tweet and retweet them @DSideDish.   3. So I had to post this because it was so unexpected. I have worked in Las Colinas a stone’s throw from Omni Mandalay for 4 years and never ate at their restaurant. Since they happened to have a lunch Restaurant Week special this year, we decided to try Trevi’s, their Italian restaurant and it was actually fantastic. I live in downtown Dallas and rarely eat in the suburbs, but this was far better than you’d ever expect from a hotel.
    Appetizer – Mozzarella and tomato salad – nothing innovative but perfectly executed with delicious balsamic drizzle and fried basil leaf. Main course – salmon that was really perfectly cooked with polenta and yummy lemon sauce and some beautiful asparagus. Dessert – well no matter how cliche I had to go for tiramisu and it was delightful. The wine pairings were also right on point.
    Our server (Alvero??) was polished and hospitable without being intrusive, seemed really sincere about making our first visit be a good one. I will definitely be back.

  4. Had a truly memorable RW meal at Salum! Every course was not only beautiful and well prepared but memorable. From tuna tartare with pineapple salsa and avocado to the CM fourth course of silky ravioli to sea scallops with cherry soubise to a duo of desserts. . . we’ll be back and not only for Restaurant Week.

  5. My experience with Restaurant Week 2012 gets mixed reviews. I took my spouse to Del Friscos for his birthday during restaurant week at his request with friends. Big disappointment! We chose the filet. The filets were stringy and overcooked. This is not the first time that I’ve experienced subpar food, service and lackluster execution during restaurant week. I’d rather donate money myself than eat subpar food and be treated as if I don’t know the difference.
