Four couples in their 40s are looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Here’s the problem: They want a quiet place!
I am looking for a fun place that’s not too loud to have a birthday dinner with 4 couples who haven’t seen each other in awhile. You know what we’re looking for: great food and drinks, an atmosphere and noise level a few notches above typical small white tablecloth venues, but not where you have to shout at each other. Any thoughts jump to mind? Oh, we’re like 40ish. Yeah, we’ll probably be in bed by midnight.
Thoughts do not jump to my mind. Ever. Yours?

cafe urbano- call for reservations great food quiet small…
Veracruz Cafe in Bishop Arts or La Fiorentina on Cole Ave.
Arthur’s Addison.
Much as I like Urbano, the noise level there is excruciatingly loud. Ridiculous. Worse than Al Biernat’s, which I thought was impossible.
I recommend Local or Oak. Both fine dining, both quieter than average. At Local, get the side room off the bar and at Oak, ask for seating as far from the front door as possible.
Stephan Pyles. Ask for the wine room
Local is very quiet but expensive. Oak is not quiet. I would go to Parigi! Great food, relaxed, very comfortable and noise level is low. Plus you can sit indoors or on their great patio!

Citrus Cafe at Preston Royal has a lovely small side room, plus it’s BOB.
Javier’s…reserve the private room…
Parigi’s for sure!
The Grape hands down!!!!!!! Perfect for any occasion
Parigi!
Zanata Plano has a private room that is perfect! The food is amazing & great drinks. Call & book it.
I also want to suggest Tukta Thai on Plano Rd.@ Walnut Hill (not sure what part of town you’re in). The setting is nice, it’s quiet, food’s great but not expensive, it’s BYOB and you can sit there & visit forever without being rushed out by the staff.
Charlie Palmer at the Joule, you can also ask for the PDR.
Sevy’s would be excellent
Parigi!
Mingon in Plano.
Local – hands down!
