I asked SideDish’s FoodTruckologist, George Lewis, to send me his list of food truck in Dallas. He not only gave up his list, he included all contact information.

Three Chickens With Your Name On Them. Thanks For the Friday Buzz Kill, HuffPost

OK, so I started writing this post because I found the Cara Parks’ article on Huffington Post—Chickens Outnumber People Three To One—salacious in a food-nerd sort of way. But now I’m finding the data a little horrifying.

Has Anyone Tried Crazy Sisters Food Truck?

These food-truck-taco sisters seem to be making the rounds of car lots. This afternoon Crazy Sisters Food Truck is set up at Grubb’s Nissan in Bedford. Tomorrow afternoon they’ll be at Moritz Kia in Hurst. Look for them around midnight at Big Shots Sports Cafe in Bedford.

We have yet to try their tacos, but we really like the logo. And we also like the fact that there are food trucks popping up in other places besides the tried-and-true hipster hang-outs.

We always love hearing from readers who’ve tasted from the trucks, so, if you find yourself in Bedford, at midnight, with the munchies let us know how the sisters are doing.

Things I’m Finally Getting Around To: The Egyptian

You know those people who have done (and are experts in) everything, eaten at every restaurant (both when it was new and recently), and knew all about every local political scandal (before it happened)?  I’m not one of those people. In fact, I’m totally fine with admitting that there are more than a few local institutions that I just haven’t gotten around to visiting yet.

I was thinking about this today at lunch when I was seated in one of the squeaky, red booths at Campisi’s: The Egyptian, chowing down on a combo plate of spaghetti & meatballs, ravioli, and manicotti. Surely, I’m not the only one. Even the most native among us has some Dallas standby that they’ve never gotten around to visiting—like the Christmas windows at Neiman’s downtown—or maybe you finally got around to having a sandwich at Jimmy’s and can’t believe it took you so long. No judgment.

It’s Friday afternoon. Let’s procrastinate together in the comments section…

Report From Blue Mesa: Hatch Chiles Late to Dallas

This news just in from the Baroness of Blue Mesa, Liz Baron.

We originally planned to start our Hatch Chile Festival on August 1. We get our chiles from Young Guns Farm in Hatch, New Mexico. They had originally informed us the crop would be ready late July or the first of August.  We just learned that the crop will not be ready until around August 5th. We are dependent on when the crop is ready to harvest – there is no messing with Mother Nature! But we will start serving them as soon as we get them. Sorry for the delay.

Brittany Wilkerson Crowned Miss Twin Peaks 2011

The full press release is below the fold. I haven’t read it, I just looked at the pictures. Twin Peaks, a Dallas-based breasteraurant, that features attractive waitresses, excuse me, Twin Peak Girls. I guess they had a contest because they have picked a winner. You can read the press release below.

Here is my question: Brittany is a lovely girl but don’t you think the winner of Miss Twin Peaks would, how do I say this, have significant peaks? Okay, sorry. I’m a big fat procrastinator promoting sexism.

Somebody Help This Poor Boy: Merguez Sausage in Dallas

This particular Disher is looking for a particular kind of sausage: merguez. Feed him.

Where in DFW can I buy merguez sausage? I’d prefer the lamb variety, but beef is good too.

How to Make the Best Pizza in Dallas at Cane Rosso

Pizza the Neapolitan way.

On a recent Saturday afternoon, I went to D Magazine’s Best of Big D pick for best pizza, Cane Rosso, to learn how to make an authentic Neapolitan pie.

The owner, Jay Jerrier, kindly welcomed me into his kitchen near the end of a busy lunch hour. Before my arrival, I expected to be clumsily cooking in the safety of a kitchen in a back room somewhere. This was not the case. The pizza oven is right in the middle of Cane Rosso, and I had no choice but to take the risk of embarrassing myself in front of the entire restaurant.
