A woman posted the following question on our Facebook fan page:
(I) need a restaurant recommendation for downtown Dallas, near the Magnolia Hotel. (Looking for) a mid-range expensive place, nice for ladies.
Let’s help her out.

Samar is good and about 6 blocks away.
Charlie Palmer is nearby although it may be more than “mid-range expensive”. Very nice atmosphere.

We’re looking for a nice ladies lunch or dinner in downtown Dallas that is elegant and not too pricey!

Tough one. I’d say Samar or possibly Screen Door? Alternatively, “Anyplace But Iron Cactus”?

Oh, lunch? I’d go with the Zodiac at Neiman Marcus.

Lunch? Definitely Zodiac Room. Easily walking distance from Magnolia. Also the Neiman’s Cafe (bring Amex, Neiman’s Card, or cash).

Second Zodiac Room for lunch. Also, Charlie Palmer’s does a nice executive lunch… soup, salad, and half a sammie. The selections have been excellent every time I’ve gone, and I love their iced tea. Dallas Fish Market is also a good lunch spot, although never terribly happening. I haven’t been to Stephen Pyles for lunch, but I’ve heard great things about it, including the price point.
For dinner, I’d do Samar.

Step out a little and to go Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum

Zodiac Room is the obvious choice for the ladies who lunch, and actually pretty good.

Stephen Pyles is great for either lunch or dinner as is Samar and 1717 at the Dallas Museum of Art.
