Splitting the Check in Restaurants, Cont’d

A blurry photo depicting the most beautiful thing I've ever seen: a perfectly split-up check.

A blurry photo depicting the most beautiful thing I've ever seen: a perfectly split-up check.

I was all prepared to use bb641′s app, You Owe, at dinner Friday night. But I didn’t have to. Wanna know why? Because the server at Komali read my mind and split up my group’s check without even being asked. That, my friends, is service. (I was so excited, I sent the photo to several people who have complained with me about this issue.)

Chow Down in the Streets at Blue Mesa’s Taco & Tequila Street Party

Head to Blue Mesa Grill on March 23 for a Taco and Tequila Street Party (part of the Third Annual Texas Citrus Festival) and chow down on authentic, made-to-order street tacos and Cuervo margaritas made with fresh Texas citrus. Glut out on chile glazed steak, orange sriracha chicken, rojo shrimp, and pulled pork tacos—all on made-to-order corn and flour tortillas and served with salsas, relishes, black beans, ginger rice, and corn cake. A separate buffet will hold citrus guacamole, arugula grapefruit salad with tequila orange vinaigrette, and two new fresh baked desserts: a guajillo apple pan dowdy with dulce de leche ice cream, and sweet potato pan dulces, skewered and served with roasted banana, dark chocolate, and dulce de leche dipping sauce.

Sidle up to the Citrus Margarita Station where mixologists will whip up margaritas with fresh ruby red grapefruits, Meyer lemons, navel oranges, and limes from Rio Queen Citrus of Texas. Imagine a Meyer lemon mint margarita or a ruby red grapefruit habañero margarita then make a reservation. The party will run you $25 per person but includes dinner and two margaritas—score one for good value!
