It was a soft friends and family opening. Such a sweet moment after a year plus of construction, tasting, inspections, etc. etc. The interior is clean and chic and original. The homemade tortillas are the best in Dallas. I had the Posole de Puerco. Or something like that. Sublime! (Don’t hold me to the name of the dish. The margaritas are delicious and sneak up on you. ) There are some things to work out, but guaranteed: Komali is going to be an enduring jewel in the local dining scene. Congratulations Abraham and company. You did it.
No lunch hours today, but open for dinner tonight.
Wanted to go last night, but babysitter couldn’t get out of her apartment parking lot ice rink!
Can’t wait to go!
Scott – the bartender told me that in general they’ll be open continuously from 11 am to 11 pm, except for Sundays which are brunch only. And I guess closed this Sunday.
Calling in, I was told they won’t be open for lunch today.
As for the tortillas, does anyone know whether they’re using fresh masa or reconstituted (from Maseca or the like)?
It was really fun – great energy! So many things on the menu look great. We had the posole and tamalitos and sopa de fideo seco con frijoles. Everything was very tasty! Leanne was mixing some fabulous drinks. Large bar. Love the interior. I will be back soon. Glad to hear it will be open for lunch.
We went Saturday night and really enjoyed it. They could’ve used another server or two but probably weren’t expecting this many people. Food was excellent, prices are reasonable. The interior lighting is a bit bright, but that should be easy to adjust. Looking forward to our next visit!
Went on Friday. Food was very good, wine was reasonably priced. Price are a little on the high side (but not too high), and portions are fairly small.
