What I’m Drinking Now: Super Bowl Cocktails

There is no mistaking that we are in the midst of Super Bowl fever, if you can thaw out from this deep freeze!  It would seem there are special cocktails appearing all over town to root on the Packers or toast the Steelers. Here are a few to try if you are out and about, or that you can mix up for your tailgate party.

Alma, the new Henderson hot spot from Tristan Simon is set to open just in time for the Super Bowl.  Their Alma & Omega is dangerously good, perfect for game day or any day.

Alma & Omega
2oz Espolon Blanco Tequila
¾ oz Lime Juice
¾ oz Coconut Syrup
2 Sprigs Cilantro
1 Serrano Pepper slice
Muddle/Shake/Strain/Up into a martini glass

Grey Goose Vodka
Pama Pomegranate liqueur
Apple Schnapps
Cranberry Juice
Sprite with lemon
lime twist 

Pittsburgh Punch
Grey Goose L’Orange
Raspberry liqueur
Pineapple, orange and cranberry juice 
Lemon twist

Patron Tequila is a tailgate go to for more than just doing shots.  The Fair Catch is a premium refreshing cocktail.

The Fair Catch
2 oz Patrón Anejo
.5 oz Agave Syrup
2 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash Orange Bitters
Garnish Orange/Lime twist
Combine ingredients in a double rocks glass with ice, and stir for 30 seconds. Garnish with a lime twist/orange peels.

The XLV Super Bowl
Vodka, Rum, Gin, Brandy, Triple Sec, White Wine, and Fresh Fruit Juices With a Refreshing Zest of Sprite, Garnished with Fresh Fruit.  
Served for two or four….limit two per group…

Cedars Social mixologist Michael Martensen created a few cocktails for this week in conjunction with their Russian Standard Vodka promotion.

Stalin’s Fall
1.5 oz Russian Standard
.5 oz St Germain
1 oz Dolin dry vermouth
1 oz fresh orange juice
Garnish: rose water essance Mint

Moscow Mule
2 oz Russian Standard
.5 oz lime juice
4 oz ginger beer
garnish: lime wedge

Brackets, the new sports bar/social club in the old Trader Vic’s space is offering a few Super Bowl themed cocktails to celebrate this week.  The Green Bay Gimme is sure to please fans for either team.

  1. So they are opening before the Super Bowl? Leslie Brenner’s blog states they are delayed until Feb 7th, after the big game. Which is it?
