Big Bottles Abound for Cotes du Coeur

Last night Cotes du Coeur hosted their Big Bottle Night in preparation for their 20th gala benefiting the American Heart Associationthis April 9.  Dozens of Dallas wine lovers gathered at the home of Pam and Gary Patsley to donate their large format, “big” bottles for the Big Bottle Wine Alley auction featured at every Cotes du Coeur event, and the bottles were impressive.  From a 2008 Sea Smoke Southing Pinot Noir donated by Lisa Ross, to a Staglin2003 Cabernet Sauvignon donated by Brenda and Clay Cockerell, to a 2007 Domaine de la JanasseChateauneuf du Pape donated by Greg Schonert, to a 12 year vertical of Norma Jeane donated by Hunter and Emily Bywaters.

Horne and Decker provided savory and sweet treats for guests as they sipped Groth Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Heart Disease and stroke are the number 1 and number 3 killers of Americans, predominantly women.   Cotes du Coeur is the largest fundraiser for the American Heart Association in the country, headed by the Dallas Division of  AHA.  In its first 19 years Cotes du Coeur raised over $14 million, with proceeds going directly to cardiovascular research and heart healthy education programs.

Last night’s event was a great way to head into February, heart awareness month, and get ready for a fantastic gala event in April.  The gala features Chef Richard Chamberlain cooking beside 15 of Dallas’ chefs as they prepare a lavish tasting menu paired with 28 domestic and international wines.  The next event is February 20th where the chefs for the April 9th gala will be announced.  Tickets for all of this year’s Cotes du Coeur events are available here.
