Somebody Help This Poor Girl: Indian Food in Dallas

It’s never too late to try a new cuisine and we should tip a turban to this couple who have decided to try Indian food. Hear her plea:

I recently convinced my husband to expand his food horizons. After living off cheeseburgers and chicken fried steak for 30 years, his new loves include sushi and Thai. He is now eager to try more ethnic foods, including Indian. Unfortunately I have never eaten Indian food and have no idea where to begin. Can you make any recommendations on where we should go and what we should order?

We have some recommendations.

Eat This Now: Nick & Sam’s Grill

“The Grill” Benedict. We’re all about breakfast around here these days. That’s why I couldn’t resist telling  you about the eggs benedict I inhaled gracefully ate Saturday morning at Nick & Sam’s Grill. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this was the best eggs benedict I’ve ever eaten. Smoked ham, spinach, and poached eggs rest atop a cheddar biscuit – not a boring English muffin — a delicious, mouth watering cheesy biscuit. The hollandaise sauce was so good that I wanted to order another biscuit just so I could sop it all up. I recommend that you wash it down with a carafe of blood orange mimosas. I suggest a carafe not because I’m an alcoholic, but because it only costs $6. Split it with a friend and you each get two generous glasses for just 3 bucks a person. I’ll toast to that!

Best Servers of KRLD Restaurant Week Number One: Amber Zuniga and John Mand of Charlie Palmer, Come On Down!

Co-winners Amber Zuniga and John Mand of Charlie Palmer at the Joule.

Last week we asked KRLD Restaurant Week participants to pay attention to servers who went above and beyond the call of duty to make the experience memorable. You did! And you emailed reports and photos of great servers in Dallas.

The winner of week goes to Charlie Palmer at the Joule. Okay, I know Charlie isn’t a server, but two servers from the restaurant, Amber Zuniga and John Mand, received stellar reviews so I am proclaiming them the winners.

Below you will find other servers who captured your attention during the first KRLD Restaurant Week. Thanks to all who took the time to nominate your server. And thanks to the many servers who work hard to represent the Dallas restaurant business. We appreciate you both. Go. Eat. Nominate. (nancyn@dmagazine.com). O’Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sale

I did a post on an incredible Cabernet Sauvignon the other day that I had at Veritas Wine Room.  This morning I got an email from co-owner Brooks Anderson on an incredible sale they are doing on this luscious 2006 O’Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet .   This is a great price on on a tasty 2006 Cab.  2006 Napa Cabs are turning out to be some of my favorite – earthy influences layered with cherry, blueberry and nutty flavors with bold aromas and a solid structure.
And don’t you just love a magnum….
Thanks Brooks!

For every 12 bottles of O’Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cab you purchase, you get a free magnum.
I will do the bottles at $67 each plus you get a free magnum.
