The September issue of D Magazine honors features the best breakfasts in Dallas. Here, on SideDish, we want to create a collective portrait of the way this city starts its day.

Snap a photo of your daily breakfasts, between now and the end of September. Then e-mail that shot to breakfast@dmagazine.com.  Make the subject line of the e-mail the title of your photo, and write a description of the attached photo (plus your name) in the body of the message.

Through the magic of the Internet, you picture will soon appear here ,where you can compare and contrast your early morning choices with those of your friends and neighbors. This is important sociological research, and you can play your part. Whether breakfast is coffee and a cigarette on your kitchen counter or a bologna sandwich or a short stack of peanut butter banana pancakes made without eggs or milk and topped with sliced strawberries and blueberries (pictured above), we want to see what you’ve got.

  2. Hi Brad! These are my new favorite pancakes. Here is the recipe:
    Maple & Peanut Butter Pancakes – Ingredients:
    - 1 c spelt flour
    - 1 tsp cinnamon
    - 1 tbsp flax seed
    - pinch of sea salt
    - 2 tsp baking soda
    - 1 c almond milk

    Syrup + topping
    - Peanut butter
    - Pure maple syrup
    - Cacao nibs
    - Sliced Strawberries
    - Blueberries

    Directions:
    Whisk dry ingredients together, then add almond milk. Mix until batter is smooth. Grease pan with Smart Balance butter. Scoop mix onto pan and add sliced bananas. Wait until pancakes start to bubble and then flip. Makes 4 good sized pancakes.
    Add peanut butter, maple syrup, cacao nibs, sliced strawberries and blueberries.

  3. @LC – thanks. I literally have all of that in my pantry save for the fruit and cacao nibs, so I know what I’m having Saturday morning…

  4. @Brad Cool! I hope you enjoy them. I had to search out the cacao nibs. Found them at Whole Foods. They’re kind of chocolately … a nice touch, but not totally necessary.

  5. @Brad – I buy the ground up flaxseeds. The pretty much sell those anywhere. Whole Foods, Central Market, Newflower. They are good to have on hand all the time. I throw them on my cereal, oatmeal, smoothies, etc.

  7. @Brad Ha! That’s cool. I haven’t got around to using flaxseeds as an egg substitute yet, but I’ve heard they work really well. That recipe looks great too. I’ll have to try it out … I love weekend pancakes:)
