Recently I wrote a review of Dish, the new-ish restaurant/lounge on Cedar Springs. You can read it here and discuss below. Yesterday I was telling someone about the restaurant and the discussion turned to chef Doug Brown’s other adventure, Beyond the Box. Brown has rolled out two locations of Beyond the Box. The one on Cedar Springs close to Dish, is my new favorite stop on the way home. (Tra la Pinkberry.) Besides prepared foods, BTB has dog food, magazine, toilet paper, milk—all the creature comforts an always-in-a-hurry-single-middle-aged-single woman needs. The last time I spoke with Brown, I asked (begged) him to put one in my hood. Or add delivery. Why don’t grocery stores deliver?

Erm, middle aged? That’s giving yourself quite a boost. Maybe a fancy Wayback machine lotion, potion or cream?
Nancy, dinasaurs called. They want you to come out and play.
“Why don’t grocery stores deliver?” dunno. ask groceryworks. “sigh”

Your too bitter! wouldn’t surprise me if ur actually Leslie Brenner!! Ha-Ha-Ha or one of her minions still upset bout that salmon thingy!!
I like your review, Nancy, I find it a pleasure to read. For some reason, I like this passage: “The experiences I write about here occurred at Dish Restaurant, a bustling, fun dining room undisturbed by loud music. What goes on after 10 pm is another story.”
Kevin McAllister? Yeah, right! Don’t you mean Kevin McDouchebag? If you don’t like Nancy, stay off her sight. Her blog is the most enlightened and cleverly written food blog out there.
Dear Uncle Nancy,
You’ve done it again! Just when I was trying to figure out where to go for dinner tonight, you post a review for a great little spot. I’ve been to Dish a couple times before, and the food has always been delicious. Guess I better make that reservation now!
I love Beyond the Box. Such a great concept – well executed, real food to take home for dinner or lunch when I don’t have time to cook. Plus you can grab a coffee or a glass of wine if you wish to dine in and sit on the patio. You can even bring a bottle home with your takeaway. Fun place and friendly staff in a great location. Thanks for highlighting it! It’s good to see great local businesses get the recognition they deserve.
