This just in from the Burguesa peeps: the tunnel location is officially open at 1201 Elm St., in Renaissance Tower. Apparently it all came together pretty quickly. The space was still Crystal Grill as of Saturday, but by 6 am Monday, it was Burguesa.

i don’t like eating in tunnels. was never a tunnel eater per say…
Well good luck to them. But as a downtown surface dweller I doubt I’ll ever eat there. I don’t work downtowns so they’ll probably be closed nights and weekends when I can patronize downtown eateries. Lame.
Yay, but awe, not outside
I work and live downtown, wish it would have been on the street though.
What a bunch of complainers! Despite the obvious difficulties pointed out by the other commenters, I made the long and arduous journey from the sunlight down into the dark and dreary tunnell today. After I trekked down one whole escalator I had to walk almost 30 solid seconds to make it to Burguesa. There I was greeted by this dark dining room next to the Burguesa counter.

I guess you just have to get over the fact that the main light source is the sun because the entire ceiling is made of glass. Oh if only it were outside so I could smell the car exaust!
Anyway good food, friendly service, and I like the concept so thumbs up.
@Jas
I think it’s worth mentioning that the revolving doors toward the top left of your photo are, in fact, at street level. But oh the horrors of having to take that escalator down one level to the Renaissance Tower basement.
I love eating at the Renaissance food court (hey Chickfila!) I wouldn’t even consider this a “tunnel” area, although it is connected.
Great choices of food, people-watching, and sunshine!
