Cactus Jack’s on Lemmon is Closing Today

Candy Evans says Keller’s Cactus Jacks on Lemmon is closing today and will be a Cal’s Roast Beef.

Update: Well, Candy says Cal’s Roast Beef  “is a big chain in the Northwest.” I can’t find it.

Update: Candy, stick to reporting on real estate: “So much for typing on the iphone whilst I drive — I think it is Carl’s Jr which morphed from Cal’s roast beef which I remember eating in suburban Illinois growing up… but I just heard this last night” is not good enough. Please quit texting and reporting.

Update: Wilonsky to the rescue.

Wilonsky said it was going to be a Carl’s Jr. What gives?

  • Nancy Nichols

Well, let’s see what Candy has to say?

So, Cal’s = Carl’s Jr. Technically, you’re still right. No worries.

Can someone please explain the Keller’s empire? We have Kellers and then Cactus Jack’s and then Jakes and Jack’s are/were related somehow.

  • Nancy Nichols

Different members of the families own different locations.

Hi, Nancy. Howdy, Candy. Lovely day. Nice to see you. And, always a pleasure to clear up any confusion…

Thanks Robert. I searched your site for Keller’s and that link didn’t show. You are a man among men.

Nothing like a little support from the only two sources of true reporting in Dallas. Yeah, I’m talking to you Belo.

  • Candy Evans

By the way, Cal’s roast beef sandwiches were awesome, at least they were 30 years ago. Now that I don’t eat anything but lettuce, I really don’t know.

I hate to see Cactus Jack’s close. It is easily the best burger on Lemmon this side of The Loon. It was nice to have a local burger joint among the juggernauts of Mc Donald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King.

Always loved the store hours listing for Sunday: “At Church”

and the “Best burger in town – no clowning around!” footer on their receipts.

    It will be missed.

Chuck, I couldn’t agree more. A number 5 with Tater Tots and a cold beer was just about as good as it gets. I will miss them greatly.

I submitted this a couple weeks ago via a contact form, but nothing was done, so let’s try a different approach….

*** THIS SITE HAS BEEN HACKED ***

Two weeks ago there were hundreds of hidden links for prescription drugs. Looking at the HTML for this page today, there are *500* hidden links for cigarette sites. No telling what else it’s trying to do to your computer when you view these pages.

D needs to shut this down until it has been secured and cleaned up.

  • Billusa99

Damnation — he’s right! Just right-click and ‘view page source.’

    Hacked for sure! Cigarette anyone?

  • Hannibal Lecter

It looks like they’ve got the links cleaned up, at least.

  • Jason Alexander

The issue has been found and resolved.

    Thanks for your patience,
    -Jason

Yikes on the link injection! Upgrade Wordpress to 2.9.1 and remove the infected files before googlebot finds them. Let me know via email if you need any help. I’m a wpmu developer.

Even though Cactus Jacks had gone down hill for at least a decade, I still enjoyed a hickory cheeseburger and tater tots once a blue moon. It didn’t hold a candle to Beck’s Prime hickory cheeseburger in Houston, but like Beck’s said – “anything north of Conroe is Yankee”. No plans on expanding to DFW, ever. =(

  • Charlie Bacon

Jason, I must have hit the cached page before I posted. You’re right, issue resolved. I’d still svn sw to 2.9.1 to avoid future headaches.

  • Jason Alexander

Thanks Charlie – yep, will definitely be upgrading the few remaining blogs that on older revs. :)

Thanks for the offer of help!

Agree with Chuck and Joeat: Was the first burger place I ever visited in this town and is still the best. Will miss them terribly.

Never had that “hacked” problem. Thank you, Apple for making my iMac so secure.

Pretty interesting post. Couldn’t be written any better. Browsing this post reminds me of my old friend. He always kept talking about this. I will send this post to him. Am sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing! :)

Is this used as a stop smoking aid?
