(Don’t you want to flip the D up and get a look at this dude?)
Our February issue hits the newsstands tomorrow but the web team is busy getting the cover story, “The Best Barbecue in Dallas”, uploaded to our website. Hopefully later today. The feature is written by Daniel Vaughn, the self-described BBQ Snob, and a fanatic who charts his barbecue discoveries on his Full Custom Gospel BBQ. So far he has reviewed 249 joints and has 17 more in the works. He also tells me: “As of last evening, I have officially visited every joint in DFW that I am aware of, excluding multiple chain locations. I need a salad.”
We asked Mr. BBQ Snob to narrow his favorites down to 16. The proposal was tortuous for him. Today, we will reveal his top spot and announce the winner of our Guess the Top Spot contest. Daniel will be joining us here and we look forward to many SideDish discussions on barbecue. Salads are for sissies.

Here is Crazy Jeff’s Morning Line Odds for the top contenders:
Meshack’s 6/5
Randy’s 3/1
Mac’s 5/1
Baker’s Ribs 5/1
Big Al’s 10/1
Baby Bak Shak 15/1
Place your wager’s now!
I’ve got $50 on SmokeyDoodleDoos Butterfinger Brisket House.
I’d put Angelo’s and Off the Bone at better odds than Baby Bak or probably even Al’s.
Smoke not make the list? what a shame, they even said they serve bbq! though they aren’t a “bbq” restaurant
and you can slap me if Big Al’s, Back Country, Baker’s and Hard Eight aren’t in the top 16
one last thing, all of your links stink. check ‘em
My issue came today so I won’t spoil the surprise but I will say it will take a drive to get to number one!
That cover is awful.
I vote for Smoke.
SMOkey’s bbq ft worth
Hard Eight & the Salt Lick are my faves–hands down!
