Folks From Uncle Willie’s Pies in Red Oak Visit D Magazine

IMG_0359A few hours ago, someone from Uncle Willie’s Pies in Red Oak dropped off ten slices of pie from Uncle Willie’s Pies in Red Oak. (Got that search engine?) Anywhoo, I decided to drop what I was doing and make a pie chart out of the pies and take a picture for you. The Circle of Pies is pictured along with the purple army man that sits on my desk and points his gun at me when I am on deadline. I haven’t tried the pie but the crust looks sensational. I’ve kept the cherry pie and have boxed up the rest and sent it over to the 4th floor at Belo. I’d hate to be IMG_0362 Bruno (Leslie Brenner’s elliptical) tonight!! Moving on.

Teresa Gubbins weighs in before she starts The Restaurant Critic’s Diet.

Wow. Just when you think the whole world is one big hateful blog, something nice happens and you can almost believe that not everyone is an evil, mean person. Last week several very evil and mean people left comments under my Life of a Restaurant Critic post. I deleted most of them. HOWEVER, just a few minutes ago, I noticed this comment from “Luniz”:

The only way Nancy registers 170 is if TG is standing on her shoulders. And that might even be a stretch.

Luniz, you are the wind beneath my wings. So, the truth is out: I weigh 100 and Gubbins is a mere 70 pounds. Brenner, are you reading? Spill it, chica.

Eddie Cervantes is Out of Hully & Mo’s

According to three well-informed sources, Eddie Cervantes, the godfather of Primo’s-turned-part-owner of Hully & Mo’s, is no longer associated with the restaurant. I tried to call the restaurant and got voicemail. I tried to call Cervantes but, whoopsie, can’t find his number. The last time I spoke with Cervantes, which was close to Thanksgiving, he told me his non compete agreement with Primo’s was almost up and he was going to be able to add Tex-Mex items to the Hully & Mo’s menu. Maybe he’s going to add it to his own menu. Who knows? Eddie, call me: 214-939-3636.
