I didn’t realize that Zorba’s had changed ownership. A former Zorba’s-lovin’ Disher sends this report:
Zorbas changed ownership and it is now a disaster! After many great meals
there I went for lunch last week. After waiting for 20 minutes and no sign
of our waiter I signaled to him across the room by pointing at my watch. He
yelled across the restaurant “I am not the cook”. When the meal came some 5
minutes later, it was the wrong dish. This used to be a good spot. No more!
Dang, I thought Zorba’s used to have some of the best Greek food in the area. Any suggestions as to a new venue to try?
I certainly wouldn’t let a questionable “report” like that change my mind…not that I was ever a huge Zorba’s fan in the first place.
Oh no… We will have to go check this out. We love Zorba’s and the great service (always the same guys) was one of the reasons… maybe we can make it out there this week/weekend and report back.
well, I cant say that an antsy guest pointing at his/her watch would make me want to speed up too much…
Ate their last night- everything seemed to be pretty darn good. Took us a little while to get seated- maybe they are just working out the kinks?
I’m with Amy B and luniz on this one.
I am the owner of Zorbas since 2001 and I am reading these reviews and don’t understand as nothing has changed. We have the same cooks since 2001 and most of the waiters have been with me for at least 6 years. If one of the customers was disappointed in the middle of our lunch hour rush I am truely sorry as Zorbas takes customer service very seriously. I would like to invite the unsatisfied customer back for a free lunch for the inconvenience it caused him. If anyone has any questions or comments please feel free to call me at 972-250-0002.
I emailed with the owner and he said they have not change owenership…
Anyone remember the Pita Pavillion?
Thank you, Pavlos.
We visited there for the first time a few weeks ago because of the BYOB and their vegetarian plate and absolutely loved it. The service was great. We’ve been back twice!
Zorba’s is a true ‘neighborhood’ restaurant…casual, good food value for the price, and a plus ‘BYOB’. Too bad one person had a disappointing experiece. Kudo’s for the owner to post an apology and offer for a free lunch!
The ownership has indeed changed, not in its entirety, but the owners got divorced, and the wife, (the one that was the backbone of the place and always there every day making sure customers and food and service were all up to par) is the one that is no longer in the restaurant. This is probably why you feel the management has changed, because indeed it has.
As far as good Greek restaurants in the area, Greek Isles is good. Very friendly staff and wonderful food. They have a wonderful assortment of Greek wines as well. Try there.
Maria is telling the truth.
And you should definately try out Greek Isles.
It is amazing. Back when it was one tiny little rental space in a store front where you got a great Gyro, I was there. Then when they increased their square footage, and kept on with the horio decorum, I was there happily eating the lamb shank, and perfect pastiso. Last time I went I saw roaches, and was amazed at the vile odors.
It is obvious to the life of the resturant patron that the current owner, Paul, has allowed his personal life to interfere on his business.
It is too bad for Paul, however, I hear his wife is openning a place in Frisco. WE all know she was the talent. So, instead of dissing on Paul, lets blog on a name for Sally’s new resturant. Let’s give it buzz.
I am personally for Saphos in celebration of the first woman to rebel against a male dominated world. It makes sense right, and it would be a great start.
So who’s with me. Let’s make an EXODUS to Frisco, and forget about Plano. Everybody else has.
