Cobb Switch Barbecue is Having a Party

Sent to you via me: “Phil & Janet Cobb, Blair Black, Dotty Griffith and Chris Andrews invite you to join them in celebrating the grand opening of Cobb Switch Barbecue.”

The soiree takes place this Saturday, June 27, from 11a.m. to 4:00p.m. There will be live music, $1 margaritas, and raffle drawings to benefit the North Texas Food Bank. Current DMN dining critic, Leslie Brenner, will demonstrate how to make a perfect aioli at 2:00 p.m. If you are still reading this, that last line was not true. Head up to 2625 Old Denton Rd. (Northwest corner of George Bush Turnpike) in Carrollton. 214-483-3600.

  1. They opened in May, had a Grand Opening the first week in June, and are now having another Grand Opening on June 27? How many Grand Openings are there going to be?

  2. Looking forward to the aioli demonstration!

Don’t soirees, by definition, take place in the evening?

  3. I also heard that after Leslie’s demo, Nancy Nichols will lead a roundtable discussion of pasta e formaggio, pastas y queso, and gratin de macaronis. (Sponsored by Kraft)

  4. Here’s hoping that Janet and Dottie don’t finish off the margheritas before the rest of us get there

  5. Oh Darren you stole my lines. Curses on you and sweet Nell. But you forgot that Nancy will also be discussing Alaska’s famous Columbia river snippy salmon at the evening’s hot Queen Bee of the Wild Pink Yonder ball, in the parking lot next to the Korean grocery store. It starts at 5pm.

  6. i am sick of reading about this place. how many openings are they having? heavens.

  7. I thought ‘cobb switch barbeque’ was a Cajun expression meaning ‘outdoor orgy’.

  8. @ Rawlins thanks for the laugh

I have not tried this place because the review here did not do them any favors. But will eventually get there hopefully after the kinks are worked out.

  9. Ate there today. 7-21-2009

*BBQ potato was cold in the middle. Had to have them microwave it.

*Son’s corny dog was real cold in middle. Went to have that too nuked but they replaced it with a new one. The replacement was FROZEN in the middle!

*BBQ was not very good and the BBQ sauce was terrible. Tasted more like a red sauce than BBQ sauce.

Service was great and they refunded for the Childs corny dog. Not mad or P.O’d at all. It’s just the truth. Over all rating 1 star out of five. The one star was for the service and professional staff.
