Several Dishers have asked me about Zinsky’s Delicatessen and Catering Co. the new deli under construction in the old Jason’s Deli space in Preston Royal Shopping Center. I just caught up with Liz “Baroness” Baron, one of the owners. She has just returned from New York where she ate in “almost every deli you can think of.” She and her husband Jim are partnering with Mark Brezinski, a co-founding partner of Pei Wei Asian Diner, and currently operating Bengal Coast restaurant at the Centrum. “First of July,” said Liz. Baroness, we’re going to hold you to that.

Hopefully they will be open for dinner. That should help them compete against Roasters.
I don’t understand why Roasters closes in mid-afternoon. Isn’t the trend for restaurants to be open more hours rather than less?
I don’t understand unless they devote the evenings to their catering business. I’ll check with them for official reason.
I’m excited to have a new (and MUCH needed) traditional deli in the neighborhood. I may live on the “wrong side of the preston-hollow tracks…” but I still enjoy the fruits of the proximity. YUM.

Believe me, there is no wrong side whatsoever! I look forward to a good deli, ever since the place at Preston Forest went out (Reuben’s?/now have forgotten) and then Ed’s Deli at Preston LBJ went out.
Where is that pastrami?
