Jeff Sinelli Opens Burguesa a Burger Shop Aimed at Hispanic Customers

JC told me about this place last week and I forgot to look into it. I just got an e-mail from a gal named Aria who says Burguesa opened next to the original Sonny Bryan’s at 2222 Inwood on May 5th. She sends this link. Owner Jeff Sinelli, a serial entrepreneur, also founded Genghis Grill and Which Wich. He’s gonna make it big one day. Oh wait, he already has–he’s a keynote speaker at the NRA show this weekend. See you in Chicago, Jeff.

I work across the street and have watched that little building change concepts many times. Coworkers and I ate there one day and I must say, it wasn’t too bad. If you’re going to try it, get “La Monumental”, their signature burger. It should be a double cheeseburger (mine somehow was a single patty), with all the regular acoutrements, WITH a crispy tortilla, refried beans and a slice of ham!

Actually, Sarah had the idea to do this as her $5 lunch (all by herself) when we got the invitation to the soft opening on May 5. Sadly, we were all tied up that day (and the day after and the day after). But I have no doubt Jeff’s got another hit on his hands. And I’m still wishing I had time to ditch work that day to get a burger. Until the $5 lunch, Sarah!

When I sent Nancy the email yesterday, google didn’t find the restaurant’s website for me, but they do have one: burguesa.com (duh!) We tried it for lunch today and thought it was good. Only complaints were my burguesa didn’t contain all the toppings that I ordered, the beef patty was a little too salty and the fries were soggy. But it seems promising and I’ll definitely be back! Muy bueno!
