All hail! Jim Baron and Mark Brezinski, the brawn and the brawn behind Zinsky’s, a New York style deli set to open in the old Jason’s Deli space in Preston Royal in early summer. Jim and his wife (the brains) Liz, operate six locations of Blue Mesa Grill and Mark has been in the biz in Dallas for over 20 years including a stint at Brinker International Restaurants, being a co-founding partner of Pei Wei Asian Diner, and currently operating Bengal Coast restaurant at the Centrum.
“We need a good classic New York style deli in our neighborhood,” said Jim, who is a good friend and Preston Hollow neighbor of Mark’s. The duo rounded up a team of similar minded community leader to form a partnership, many of which also grew up in the area.
The menu at Zinsky’s will pay homage to the traditions that both Mark and Jim grew up with. Think: great hand carved pastrami and corned beef, rye bread, great sour pickles, homemade tuna fish, and matzoh ball soup. I’m thinking, I’m thinking already. Get busy, boys. Your public awaits.

Mazal tov!
I can hardly wait, although I think I lost weight after the last deli left Jason’s spot — what was it called? Great bagels, horrible service. We went by one day for breakfast and the doors had been locked by the landlord.
Can’t wait for this. Jim is a class act, a great restaurant innovator, and his precision toe-punch and wrestle-strength make him a feared opponent on the soccer field.
Read my lips: BOIL THE BAGELS!
Read my lips. I hope Jim and Mark can handle the Miller family.
Mark, Make sure you do kielbasa on rye with lots of horseradish in honor of our grandpa Butch, the butcher from Bloomfield. Sis
..And remember, you CAN allow mayonnaise to co-exist in a Jewish deli…Best Wishes for success, Brother Mark…..
