Westside Tavern Opening: The Tale of the Text

I’m sure some of you were aware that Consilient Restaurants (yes, that’s Tristan Simon’s company) is opening a restaurant in Los Angeles. It’s called Westside Tavern, and it’s in the Westside Pavilion, a mall in, yes, west LA. Well, the grand opening party was last Friday night, and there were quite a few locals in attendance, and even a few celebs. Stephanie Quadri was there, and she sent me the following info:

First text: Hi! At Westside Tavern. People I know so far: the Stodghills, Bailey Chase, Adrian Brody, Luke Wilson.

Second text: Have same cocktail specialties as Victor Tango’s. Instead of “pepper smash,” it’s called “Westside smash.” All fresh juices, syrups, etc. Menu consists of mac and cheese, steak, crab legs, shrimp, and other small bites. Official opening in March. Other people from Dallas: Todd Wagner, DeAndra Simmons, Abi Ferrin, Blake Andrews, John and Tamara Bickel, Kirby Schlegel, Greg Kimmel.

So…we don’t know that much yet. And apparently there’s no website either. EaterLA says former Whist chef Warren Schwartz exec cheffing, so there’s that. Stephanie says she took pictures, so when she gets back we’ll get a look at the place. Developing.

  1. Here are a few more details: The 10,000 square foot space was designed by architect, Tony Pleskow. Design details include a cordwood wall made of reclaimed wood from the San Diego fires, modern accents, light fixtures by Alison Berger and Tom Dixon, and photography by LA photographer, Alex Prager. Drink menu is similar to that of Victor Tango’s but featuring a varied selection of cocktails including the most popular drink amongst my friends, the “Grapefruit Rickey”. Pics to come…

  2. The Grapefruit Rickey was definitely a big hit – especially with the large cubes of ice.
If in LA – one should make a trip to the Westside Tavern. I can’t wait to go back!!

  3. Can’t we get all the Dallas publicity whores(especially the trust fund babies mentioned)to follow the light to LA permanently and leave a lovely void in Dallas? I, for one, am getting tired of seeing the same faces cheesing it up ever month in D and in the DMN.
    Oh, wishful thinking….

  4. Delicious drinks….ask for Darryl behind the bar. His drinks are skilled, signature and neat.
