Guest blogger The Brad really comes through on this one. He’s got some on the record time with former Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek chef John Tesar over dinner at Nobu. Hey friends: he might NOT be opening a restaurant in Dallas, after all.
Read on for the scoop:
The Tesar Interview
Hey kids! Here’s my contribution as guest blogger here on the Dish. Nancy gave me a friendly challenge – so here you go:
John and I chatted at the bar at Nobu, then we joined Teiichi Sakurai at the sushi bar, where we enjoyed an amazing omakase meal by Nobu Executive Sushi Chef Mitsuhiro Eguchi.
TheBrad: Well JT, that’s all very cool – now let’s go on the record!
John Tesar: OK, shoot.
TB: So what were you doing in Colorado last week?
JT: Well, I was in Steamboat Springs where I’m consulting on a Texas roadhouse concept with Dave McCarble and my good friend Scott Terzack. It’s called Routt Country Roadhouse (“Nobody Likes a Quitter!”). I’m doing the menu. We plan to roll it out to Aspen, Vail… We’ll feature quality ingredients, no cut corners.
TB: …and you’re off the New York next week – what’s up?
JT: While I’m moving forward with my own restaurant in Dallas, I AM being wooed by one of Americas most amazing, iconic chefs. He wants me to come back and be his right hand man. I’d take over what is currently one of the hottest restaurants in New York, then we’d open a new place, together.
TB: Say what?!
JT: Dude, my heart lies here in Dallas, but I’m heading up there next week to talk to him about the possibilities. I’d really love to do both.
And there you have it. I know a bit about the concept for the Dallas restaurant, and it’s very cool – I’d really love to see that come together. Stay tuned to The Brad’s Adventures in Food (www.thebradsblog.com) for more scoop!
Right.
thebradsblog makes me all kinds of jealous!
I think I just threw-up in my mouth.
Could this guy’s ego be ANY bigger?
I mean, he CAN cook, but c’mon!
Just to be clear… the title Sarah added to my post (John Tesar Being Wooed by “Amazing, Iconic Chefs”) is a misquote. He is having a specific discussion this week about a unique opportunity. Now, back to the snarkin’!
Aww..Bart, a little green? Tesar can’t help it if he’s got IT! Happy for him.
Brad..great scoop…I hope the Dallas gig comes through.
You can’;t trust a guy who puts THE in front of his name. THE Brad? Not credible. And snooty, you donn;t know the guy . . . he’s everything they say he is and more. (the chef that is). Those who know him are probably serious;y doubting THE Brads story.
… Somebody set MAP straight. … and my moniker is a self-deprecating nod to that great beer spot with the guy that had “The Brad” on his license plate. This is ’sposed to be fun, people! CRAP! You drew me offsides! Flerb.
@ MAP
Ha! You know what’s not credible?
can’;t, doon;t, serious;y
Hey MAP…we actually know Tesar well…passion just pours out of him. As for you – well, do I smell a disgruntled employee?
Gah. Oops. Yes, that makes it sound like several when there is apparently only one amazing and iconic chef wooing our Tesar. Apologies Brad, definitely not my intention to misquote, and I’ll fix now.
I thought this was a fun and informative bit of scoop that Brad got. Let’s lay off him, shall we?
its funny that every time that someone says anything negative the word disgruntled employee is thrown around. Its like that’s the only way that they have of defending him( why, can he not do it himself) anyway just my 2 sense. I thought referring to yourself in the third person got respect. first a food blogger then a muscle man for the Dallas mob. thats how i would take that career.
btw, i did the 2 cents/sense thing on purpose, get it.
Sarah, after reading your misquotes for years, do you smoke lots of herb or what?
Uh oh…what is this…tacky post day? Sheesh.
@ just curious – surely you can’t be that tacky and were simply referring to this? http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Smoked-Herb-Chicken/Detail.aspx
@Jessica, yes that’s precisely what I meant.
She smokes lots of herbed chicken.
Cheeky monkey
all the better reason to have real names from commenters. How about it D-folks?
I with you, Alfonso.
