DMA Chef Pairs With UTD Students For Lesson On Senses

I wasn’t really sure if I should blog about this, since, well, you can’t go. But it’s a cool thing that the Dallas Museum of Art is doing, and my job is to give you all the information I can, so here it is:

UTD students are lucky. They still get to go on cool field trips to the DMA. For the sixth year, the museum is pairing up with the university for an honors seminar for undergrads. This year, the seminar will focus on the very cool Take Your Time: Olafur Eliasson exhibit, and the kids will visit the museum once a week to hear lectures from curators and stuff. Now you’re thinking, “why is she telling me this? I’ve been reading for 10 seconds and I haven’t heard about food.” Here’s the dish: The focus is on “the senses,” and Seventeen Seventeen (that’s the restaurant at the DMA, you know) chef Jason Ferraro is teaching a special class on February 5. Exec chef Ferraro will talk about how to cook with the senses, he’ll do a demo, and then the students will get to try their hands at cooking with the senses, too. I’m guessing this will involve something other than sticking your finger in the sauce to see if it’s hot. According to the release, Ferraro will “challenge his guests by evoking their senses and sense of memory by creating different textures, flavors, temperatures, and scent to enhance a theatrical dining experience.” Cool.

Now you know. Doesn’t that make you want to go back to college?
