DJ WISHFM…where have I heard that name before?

Hi, my birthday was more than a week ago, so I’m going to tack it onto a charity fundraiser to be held next month. Stay classy Dallas…

I’m not sure if it’s just me or not, but the whole thing seems a bit tacky to me… So is this party for Lee Park or Reanae Seth? It just puts a bad taste in my mouth, IMO.

  • No Hatin'

The party is for Reanae. Instead of accepting the party as a celebration for her, she asked to incorporate up a fundraising aspect. The event now benefits one of her favorite non-profits, Lee Park Jr. Conservancy. I commend her for taking what could have been a self indulgent day in the spotlight and turning it into a benefit for a good cause. I wish more people would think of others because there is a lot of “me, me, me” in this fine city.

Wouldn’t Arlington Hall, a beautiful and fabulous event space, be a better suited location to hold an event to support Arlington Hall?

  • JS

It’s great if you want to use a party to raise $, etc. for a good cause (in fact, my pre-teen son just had a b-day party and noted on the invite that all gifts would be donated to a local children’s chairty). But shouldn’t the invite in such cases be limited to friends of the birthday girl/boy, not a spam invite sent throughout the community?

  • Dallas is pretentious

Well honestly I’m pretty sure N9NE put it in there just to get more people in since restaurants aren’t doing so well. It’s not her fault that her name got thrown in with their marketing.

  • who cares??

do people really care that much??

  • Puddin'Tane

Since I live next to Alington Hall this naturaly drew my interest, but….

N9ne is a sinking ship and this is a save N9ne effort. Oh, yeah, and some twit’s bd.

Wanna do something good toward The Hall? Then host the event AT The Hall.

  • Nancy Nichols

Peeps, everybody, well almost everybody, is a sinking ship right now. And what is wrong with trying to save your restaurant? Restaurants hold charity events all the time. And perhaps that twit that you refer to is someone who is celebrating a birthday and asked that, in lieu of presents, guests make donations to Arlington Hall. There are four sides to every story.

  • Vanilla Ice

If “Puddin’ Tane” (haha….ok I have to give props for the funny name) knew anything about Arlington Hall he/she would know that there was a Winter Social and Membership Drive just last week that was held for Lee Park at Arlington Hall. Arlington Hall gets booked for many events other than those soley benefiting themselves….like weddings, engagement parties, receptions, etc. etc. Having the party at N9NE enables Lee Park to bring in money at the Hall for let’s say the “Wedding” that was scheduled while simulaneously having an event take place at a separate location…that is also beneficial for Lee Park. Duh.

  • JB

Vanilla Ice is smart. Arlington Hall holds a lot of weddings now that they renovated the building, so the Jr. Conservancy can only hold events there on certain days.

  • Puddin'Tane

V-Ice: If I had known about the Winter Social I would have attended. I walk my dog through Lee Park, as many of my neighbors do, on almost a daily basis and quite aware of the stream of events held at The Hall. (Hello Ducky Bobs!)

I may be wrong, but I hold to my interpretation of the event in question. The “birthday party” could be held at The Hall (even if it had to be delayed) and catered by N9NE. I just believe there is a conflict in intention.

For me, I will not attend a birthday party for a total stranger unless a common friend extends an invitation.

I expect to see the whole thing featured in PaperCity or D just like all the other “Look at Me Aren’t I Fabulous for Giving Money” parties.

If the fundraiser was held at the Hall, they would end up spending money on staffing, set-up, tear down, utilities, etc. By holding a benefit for them in another location, it ensures they get full benefit of the event by not having to spend money themselves. This event really isn’t uncommon or in pour taste.

Martini Girl…great point, but why did she have to attach her name to this event? The casino night would have been a wonderful charity event for Lee Park. It just seems silly that this girl needed to attach her name to it.

  • B

who cares that she attached her name to it? LOTS of people do. Just because YOU don’t know her. Big deal. She probably has a big group of friends that are involved with Arlington Hall (they started the juniors side ….forget what they call it now) and now they have a second reason to go…their friend Reanae’s birthday… YAYYYYY!!! Shots for Renae. Then Reanae, smart girl that she just might be, decided to not have a closed party… because hey… she might be able to raise a few more dollars if friends of friends came, or (GASP) rich strangers looking to party!!! woah.

I do not know this girl, more power to her. I am a big fan of Arlington Hall, but this really didn’t need to be bagged on. Come on yall. Put down the hatorade.
