We’re sad that Wine’tastic is closing its doors. There was always a yummy surprise or two on the wine list, which is good news for those of you itching to stock your wine cabinet with a few good buys. Everything is 50 percent off until January 17 when the wine bar will pour its last glass of wine. Everything is on sale including the decor and furniture. We know you’ve gotten to love the place over the years and the people. Don’t worry, sommelier D’Lynn Proctor will be working at Wolfgang Puck’s new venture Five-Sixty.
Weird to hear, because I’d been told that the owner/investor had deep enough pockets to keep it going as long as he wanted, profit or not. Guess he doesn’t want to anymore?
Good place, special even. But these are not normal times and this is a fickle city. Sad. They always had my favorite Greek wine. The guy who ran it is now at Charlie Palmer’s. He was terrific.
Hrm… makes me concerned for similar operations, such as the Wine Therapist and Times Ten Cellars (though the latter’s wines are average on their best days).
You snooze, you lose, I guess — the wife and I tried to go by Wine’tastic last night after work, and it’s already closed and empty of inventory. Guess I should’ve called first.
THESE CREEPS AT WINETASTIC SOLD MY OUT-OF-TOWN (CA) SISTER A $100.00 GIFT CARD ON DECEMBER 20TH FOR A GIFT FOR ME…WHAT A SCREW JOB!!!!..THEY KNEW THEY WERE GOING UNDER BUT STILL RIPPED OF AN OUT OF TOWN CUSTOMER. SHE WAS NORT INFORMED OF THEIR PENDING DOOM!!!IF I EVER FIND THIS MUTHER F’ER I’LL CRAM HIS SOMMELIER’S CUP UP HIS ASS. OR MAYBE I’LL JUST GO UP TO WOLFIIES PLACE AND TOSS THIS LYING, CHEATING BASTARD OFF THE ROOF.
He’s no longer at Five Sixty. Let me know what happens.
