As Teresa Gubbins reported here, Swirll Winery downtown will close its doors December 20. This is the make-your-own place in the lobby of the Davis building. Insert frustrated sigh and slow head-shake here.

I’m just surprised it lasted as long as it did. I first met the owners about 4 years at a magazine party at the former Medici. The woman/wife was complaining that the wines at the event were terrible compared to what they made.
I happened to like those wines, which I’d tasted during my Best Cellars days but did not select for the store. I sipped on my wine just so I didn’t laugh in her face the whole time.
