OMG! A puck bunnies dream: Dallas Stars dudes Mike Modano and Brett Hull are ready to open Hully & Mo Restaurant & Tap Room “in December.” Here’s their game plan:
“American comfort food served in relaxed atmosphere of fine leathers & Texas limestone.” Hockey Stars Mike Modano & Brett Hull, Tim Headington and Legendary Restaurateur Eddie “Primo’s” Cervantes will open Hully & Mo Restaurant & Tap Room featuring chef-driven American comfort food. The sports-inspired restaurant will reflect a neighborhood feel with Texas Hill Country limestone, custom-designed black & brown leather booths, dark woods, open theater kitchen and tap room lounge. Located in the heart of Uptown at 2800 Routh Street, the restaurant is scheduled to open in December.
The dress code is ampersand casual. Mo details below. (Leather VIP booth!)
According to Cervantes, “we have created a chef-driven menu featuring traditional American comfort food. We will offer a neighborhood-friendly menu with variety so that customers will want to join us several times a week,” he said.
The restaurant will feature an open kitchen theater so that customers may watch lunch and dinner preparation. The “American favorites” menu will range from pastas, salads, ribs, homemade soups and pizzas to a variety of sliders, cut-to-order steaks and seafood. French fries and breads will be made from scratch daily.
Hully & Mo will house a front patio, a private dining room, a restaurant with a large Texas Hill Country limestone bar and a tap lounge with a dark stone bar and courtyard view of fountains.
A VIP leather booth will seat large groups, and a curtained table will offer privacy for national celebrities and special occasion diners.
The dramatic entrance boasts of modern glass backlit with multicolored lights and murals of sports legends. The entrance doors will be custom designed with hockey sticks as pulls.
Once inside, Modano & Hull’s awards and trophies are on display in a glass case. Unique football, baseball, hockey, basketball and other sports memorabilia will decorate walls throughout the restaurant.
Designed by Tyler Duncan of the Duncan Design Group, the comfortable decor will reflect a relaxing atmosphere with custom-designed black & Godiva brown leathers. Texas Hill Country limestone will be the focal point of the front bar with several televisions inset in the limestone. Other televisions including drop-down big screens are strategically positioned throughout the restaurant and patio.
The tap room lounge offers a neighborhood “place to hang out” with imported beers, specialty cocktails and a premium wine list served from the lounge bar designed with dark stone and warm woods. The restaurant lunch and dinner menus will be served in the lounge.
The restaurant and lounge can accommodate corporate, special occasion and sports team events.
Located at 2800 Routh Street in Uptown, the restaurant will serve lunch and dinner seven days per week. Reservations will be accepted for groups of eight or more. The phone number is 214-954-0203.

any word on if the prices are wallet friendly so that we can afford to join them several times a week?
Is that the old Riccardi’s space at the Quadrangle?
Or could it be the old M bar & grill?
It’s the old Riccardi’s. I wonder when they are going to take the Riccardi’s sign off the side of the building. It was still there last night. They have a new awning over the entrance. Looks nice.
No mention of a chef for the “chef driven” menu?
French fries made the same day sounds “chef driven” to me.
I hope Sean Avery’s “sloppy seconds” show up — that would make for a good time.
Doesn’t sound like a place serving sloppy seconds so I guess there will not be an Avery sighting.
Although he may be looking for work soon and I’m sure Hull will vouch for him though I’m certain Modano would not.
Hope the restaurant does well.
They may need to change the name to “Les & Mo Restaurant”
After seeing how Co-GM Les Jackson threw Him under the bus on the Avery situation…Hull may be on his way out.
As for the “sloppy seconds”…Mo should have plenty of that to go around.
Maybe they could have a “Sloppy Seconds Sloppy Joe” on the menu… I’d buy that!

The chef is Ossie from Bob’s Steak and Chop house…when Bob’s was at it’s best!!! Yum!

I just called Hully & Mo’s and asked about Happy Hour pricing. I was told that everything would be $1 off during HH. I inquired further and was told that Domestics are $3, imports $4, and high end drafts (Fat Tire, Stella, etc.) would be $5. I asked about wine and was told “we have an extensive wine list…” I said “No, the HH prices…” he said wines would be $7 and $10 – EEK! A little rich for my HH wine palate. I’m work for a large company just across the street from the Quadrangle (Hully & Mo’s) and had hoped for a little better pricing than that, especially from a space that seems to be a bit cursed. Food is priced anywhere from $6.50 to $35, “$35 being a hand cut filet.” So, I guess we’ll see what happens and if the particular atmosphere is worth the extra $, especially given the other great HH specials in the immediate area.
Forgot to mention, I was told that they would be opening “Thursday or Friday.” (1/8 or 1/9) – Despite earlier reports of mid-November and even “Thursday or Friday” of last week.
Dang – correction – despite earlier reports of mid-DECEMBER.
Latest update – Hully & Mo’s has been open for about two weeks now. A group of ladies from my office went over there for lunch today. They said the food was “ok,” but that the service was horrible. I heard another report yesterday that the service was poor. The ladies commented today that they even got the manager involved and it didn’t get any better, nor was there any attempt at any type of compensation for the crummy service. I don’t know that many of them will be going back, though it could just be a case of them being new and working out the kinks. (?)
Up to date- Hully and Mo is doing great they are getting great business. They are really good and the pizza are okay but a still pretty good, sure they were a little bad at first but a lot of restaurant dont start off great they work there way up. The Service is great, the cooks are good, The good things to get at Hully and Mo are: Combo Sliders, the 1/2 pound burger, the BLT or Club Sandwich are very good. Lettuce wrap very good. And the desserts are very good.
With any grand opening of a business you put your best foot forward. The big test is to see if it sticks for the long run.
I was very excited to try Hully and Mo. However, I was very disaapointed with the service and food. My friends order came out three times incorrect and you always had to ask for a refill, and in my case a beer.
Overall, I would rate this establishment a 5 out of 10. The seats are very comfortable and that’s the only reason it was bumped from a 4 to a 5 rating. If you love hockey I’m sure you will enjoy the experience.
