Well, he can’t be too bad off–at least he has 25 friends. And he wants to take them all out for pizza. He asks of you:
I’m seeking a place comparable to my favorite — Taverna (setting standards from the get-go so I don’t get suggestions such as Pietro’s, Pizza Hut, or Patrizio — yikes!), that can comfortably hold a dinner served family-style for 25 or more single professionals.
Okay then, that’s pretty specific. I say MY VILLA IN TUSCANY would be perfect! Cuz, I’m walking out the door right now to catch a plane. C-ya in my dreams. Italian foodie and wine-y blogs to come.
grimaldis outside patio is great for a group that size
Arcodoro Pomodoro has a few rooms that can fit a group that size (along with great food). The restaurant also has an upstairs room that has one large dining table that can hold about 30 people.

To whoknew — please describe the pizza and its crust at Grimaldi’s. Thanks, Ed
West Village location for Campania…plus it’s BYOB. You could use up the larger dining area inside that could easily hold 25 people.
Jay? Am I right?
Grimaldi’s is thin crust made in a coal fired oven. Grimaldi’s or Campania would work out well and both are good. Choice can often come down to whether you want to BYOB or not.
Nate, awesome plan.
@ Ed B. – shoot me an email at jjerrier@campaniapizza.com and let me know the details. Campania in West Village could host 25 – either inside or out on the patio. It is BYOB with no corkage fee. We do Neapolitan-style pizza at our West Village spot.
If you feel like a drive to Southlake we have a second floor wine lounge and a rooftop patio to accommodate large parties with no rental fees. We have full bar and can do lots of family style pastas, lasagnas, etc.
Just depends on what day and time you are looking for.
If you want to go a different direction, I would also heartily endorse Arcodoro/Pomodoro and Nicolas in Plano has some nice spots on the second floor for large groups.
Thanks, Nancy. Entertaining a large group is tough enough these days, but adding up other costs for beer and wine makes it tougher if he’s paying for it all. A good BYOB spot like Campania is great for such a party. Plus the pizza is awesome. Such a good way to support our locally owned businesses too.
Ed B: I would suggest going to Jimmy’s on Fitzhugh to choose about 1-2 cases of wine. Choose up a mix of a Super Tuscan, maybe some Aglianico (for the heavier red drinkers), Pinot Grigio, and possibly a Verdicchio or Trebbiano (as a Chardonnay alternative). Oh yeah, for those who love something bubbly, get a light, dry Prosecco. It’s a great palate cleanser and alternative to Champagne. And the continued bonus? Supporting another locally owned business.
Nate: Nancy posted my entry hastily before leaving for Italy and it’s a bit unclear as I am not buying dinner. It will be purchased – through me – for whichever of my Single Gourmet DFW members who want to attend. Nate: you SURE know your wine and cuisine as we’ve likely bumped into one another at Jimmy’s.
Actually, Ed…I didn’t even check the link where your name is. I helped you with an event 3-4 years ago at the former Spike. I brought in various wine selections when I was a wine distributor for one of your events. I just misunderstood the context of your email to Nancy. I thought it was a private party or celebration, which is technically still true, just not like a birthday or something.
With that in mind, I would definitely suggest going to the Campania in Southlake. Jay has a great location there. I think your group would really enjoy it there. He has a solid wine selection with very good pricing…and a lot more dining options as well, such as the pasta dishes and other antipasti, which offer more variety than pizzas. That will work for your group for the multiple courses you usually offer at your dinners.
