Bagelstein’s in Preston Royal is Closed

A bagel-hungry Disher sez the sign out front indicates they were locked out because they didn’t pay their rent. Makes me sad.

Can Somebody Help This Poor Girl: Island Edition

San JuanDishers, I’m going to Puerto Rico in two weeks and would love some advice on where to dine. If any of you have been to San Juan and have some suggestions, now’s the time to spread the knowledge.

This Weekend: Fall Herb Fest at Northaven Gardens

Looks like we’ve got quite a herb-y theme going here today. I mean we can’t forget Nikki, the pie and herb expert over at Northaven Gardens. This weekend she’s hosting a “Fall Herb Weekend” for people who are “passionate about their gardens.” Hell yes, we are. So head over and get some tips and pick up a six pack of herbs. Doggone it, that gives a new slant to Joe Sixpack.

Report From the Field: Candy Corn

Yow. Zah. Snider Plaza is really popping! A loyal Disher, and admitted popcorn user, sends this word:

So some of the gals down here went to Candy Corn’s [no link] yesterday and today because we CANNOT get enough of their amazing gourmet popcorn. This store is darling and such a great addition to Snider Plaza. We thought you might want to put it on the blog. We are dying over the salt and vinegar and the peanut butter-chocolate-coated caramel corn.

Dishers, people are “dying” over the foodie options at Snider Plaza. Please remember to use food responsibly, you don’t want to end up in foodie rehab. Yum, that reminds me–my mom (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!) told me that Peggy Sue BBQ has some fine new things on their menu. I love Peggy Sue.

It’s Time to Flavor Trip

See those people in the blurry picture? They are tripping out like heavy, way out. Tripping like our intrepid reporter, and heavy drug user, Kristiana Heap did when she went deep into the flavor zone and lived to blog about it. Now, if you hurry, you too can trip the ’shrooms fantastic with the good folks at Flavors From Afar when they host “Dallas’ second-ever Flavor Tripping Party” on October 25th at 6:30pm. (A possible 2nd date–Sunday, October 26–is planned if the first date sells out). Never dropped acid? Me either. (Hi, Pinocchio!) but you won’t be doing any Window Pane, Green Dragon, or Blue Heaven, you’ll be ingesting one “miracle fruit berry” or, for those of you scoring in Latin, a synsepalum dulcificum berry. Dishers, i a brave new world out there–it’s time to tune in, turn on, and drop out. And tell your friends: Snider Plaza is the new Haight-Ashbury. Dig it. 214-696-2327.
