Restaurant News from Las Colinas

Quick: who has been to Republic in Las Colinas? No? OK, who has been to Las Colinas? Did you know that there is a restaurant called Republic in Las Colinas? Now you do. And they’ve just hired a new chef-Kent Lemmons former cop turned chef. He started his kitchen career at Rough Creek Lodge and, like everyone else in the culinary world, did a stint with Dean Fearing at the Mansion before becoming the sous chef at Trece. Now he’s the big man on campus at Republic. Road trip anyone?

This is the same Republic as the one that is / was in Uptown (did they close?)… I know they were trying to build a new location on McKinney… Anyways, the Las Colinas location is a cool spot. Not very busy during the week- but can get pretty crowded on weekends (mostly just people drinking)!

Took clients there several weeks back — good food, not so good service. Was willing to give it another shot, just haven’t made it back yet.

I live up there…it’s packed for happy hour during the week. JS-I agree with you about the service, they need a pep in their step! The food is good though, and those big leather couches are like butter! I spoke with the director of ops. and he told me that they are moving the downtown location, but the LC location is going strong!

Is it filled with the same D-bag crowd as the Uptown one?
