Fire Damages La Calle Doce in Lakewood

Yow Zah. This just in. Big fire at La Calle Doce. A loyal Disher sends sympathy to the owners but he also sends and SOS to you.

Nancy — once again, an appeal for help from the SD nation. My fiance and I were planning on having our rehearsal dinner at La Calle Doce on Skillman on 9/19 and.. well, last night’s fire probably put the kibosh on this. We’re scrambling to find a suitable replacement in short order. Mattito’s is out (details can be provided if requested, but the short version is they screwed us over once already). Any other suggestions? Would like to keep it the same fun/casual atmosphere and price if possible, but know that’s asking a lot.

Lordy, folks. I haven’t even finished my coffee.

I did flowers for a rehearsal dinner at Ozona on Greenville and Yale- they have an awesome private room and the people there are very easy to work with!

we did our rehearsal dinner at Blue Mesa and they were GREAT. Northwest Highway location.

Ok I did a lot of pricing recently for a similar event: blue mesa at northpark, I ended up doing it at Javier’s, also try manny’s in uptown. Iron Cactus also has party rooms as well as el fenix.

You could go to the original location of La Calle Doce in Oak Cliff. You could have the same great food and continue to support this great family owned restaurant.

Not sure the size of the party, but Cafe San Miguel could be a good option, although you would probably want the entire restaurant to yourself and not sure what that would cost.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Kevin is the winner — we called the OC location, and Natalia Sanchez came to our rescue. They are transferring the entire affair, and I think the private room back behind the restaurant proper will actually be a better venue than what we had on the Skillman location.

Thanks to all, but especially to Natalia and the rest of the LCD folks for being so accommodating during such a difficult time for them.

Nancy, I am the owner of Mattito’s Restaurant and I noticed that you must have had a bad experience with my restaurant. I know that you have your rehearsal dinner all set at La Calle Doce in Oak Cliff (I think it is a wonderful restaurant and I am sure they will do a great job for you). I would be very interested in knowing what it is we did so that I can work to ensure that whatever we did will not occur again. I can be reached on my cell phone at 214-762-8100 if you would like to discuss this. Thank you
