A few months ago, the lovely and talented Sarah Eveans blogged about Orange Cup opening at NorthPark Center. Well, it seems the city can’t get enough yogurt, so location No. 2 is set to open at Stonebriar Center during Labor Day weekend, with more locations coming to Galleria Dallas, West Village, and the Shops at Legacy. The official grand opening celebration takes place September 5-7, with a concert by local musician Patrick Ryan Clark on Friday, from 7-9 pm, and free yogurt on Saturday, from 2-4 pm. Between Orange Cup, Natsumi, Berry Berry, and lord-knows-what-else, I’d say we have a yogurt epidemic on our hands.
As a designer I am frustrated with the modern clean line upscaled yogurt stands that seem to be flooding the market after PinkBerry took off - Orange Cup in particular.
A - because its not as good as PinkBerry
B - because they seem not to have an original idea in their brain.
They stole every single design idea from PinkBerry. Right down to the menu design with the toppings and included a color in their name. My coworkers and I discussed this for about an hour one day.
One bright spot in this comment - Orange Cup does have acai berries which I guess are super healthy according to all the spam mail i get about them lately.
Is this just more of “It’s new and cool on the west coast so it’s new and cool here?”
Yogurt joints are so 1994. Watch a Seinfeld rerun and you’ll see.
Sure, better for you than Dairy Queen or Marble Slab, but who eats ice cream every day?
