Hello, readers. I’m looking for some ideas for a light meal—something that might make a good little tidbit in our upcoming issue (fall 08) of D Beauty. It could be anything from low-calorie options to a broader-than-usual vegetarian selection. Anyone?
I work WAY on the other side of I-30, but I still make time to go to Short Stop in Snider Plaza farily often. A scoop of Low Fat Tuna and some fruit or gazpacho is tasty and just right.
And as you can tell from all the Parkies picking up and eating in, it is a local favorite.
There are also tons of options if you do not feel quite in the mood for something so light! The meatloaf sandwich is delish but only offered about every other week or so.
And… the last time I was in there, I spotted some D girls… I know, “Working”.
Blue mesa’s spa menu…i love the spa chicken enchiladas. It’s supposed to be heart healthy and low calories…and i KNOW it’s tasty!
I’ve made the above link many times, sometimes adding feta. I even like it stuffed in a potato roll and warmed in the microwave.
But purple potatoes (from Central Market) are really good too. I can eat it all by itself & what the lemon juice does to the potatoes is fun to watch.

I guess we can tell who makes her lunch…
My favorite lunch in the world is the cafe located in the back of Forty-Five Ten boutique. They have deliciously fresh ‘made-to-order’ panini’s, salads, soups, etc.
Also – Zoe’s or Maudee’s Tea Room are other great options.
Favorite place ever for lunch….Cafe Max. Theh have a couple of locations…one in Addison near Midway/Beltline..another in Richardson near Collins/75. Perfect salads…awesome quiche…great soups and sandwhich’s. Prices are VERY decent and you can usually get two meals from their generous servings. Don’t pass up an oatmeal raisin cookie or brownie as dessert either.

Sweet Tomatoes in Addison (do they have more DFW locations now?)
I love Two Sisters. They have amazing low-fat tuna and chicken salad, and all kinds of green salads, pasta salads, etc.

I love “Two Sister” also! I crave the Dill Chicken Salad. But funny, everytime I really want it, it is on a Monday, I drive all the way over there and forget they are closed on Mondays. (HP location anyway)
Kinda like Chik Fila on Sundays, dammit.
On a hot summer day, can’t beat a S&D Shrimp salad and and iced tea – which still comes with mint. If only they still served the tea with crushed iced like they used to . . .
Two things – the salad bar at Central Market – so many yummy healthy options and the low-fat champagne vinegarette is fantastic.
Another suprisingly lo-cal option are the Vietnamese Chicken Salad Rolls from Pei Wei. Without sauce – only 160 calories for the entire plate – and they are delish.
