This just in: “Dynamic, Expansive Japanese Concept Provides Wonderful Texas-Sized Entertainment Experience, with Fun for All Ages and Affordable Prices”
That’s the headline on a press release announcing (warning: groovy violin & organ music) Hibashi Teppan Grill, Sushi & Bar. (And Beyond, and Stuff, and Such.) Finally “immeasurable numbers of North Texas can enjoy the marvelous and fresh flavors of Japanese cuisine.” Yessiree, there is certainly not enough sushi in North Texas. Besides food, Hibashi will be eatertainment-centric: hibachi grilling at the table, a 40-foot sushi bar, and a “Las Vegas-style” cocktail bar in a 12,000 square foot restaurant just across from the Galleria. Food will be flown in from Japan. Somehow this makes me miss Benihana. Dallas is down to one. (Is Irving still open?)
So will the Teppanyaki chefs be of races besides Japanese? I’ve encountered many non-Japanese teppanyaki chefs, even though quite skilled, at such restaurants, when I have no say or vote in the restaurant choice.
Food flown in from Japan…great, adding to the list including Teppo, Tei Tei, Oishii, and Nobu, just to name a few…how does that make them special? Oh yeah, the Las Vegas style bar. Woohoo.
was there yesterday for lunch…
AND,,,AC, come on give us a clue.
