Lisa Garza Speaks: Episode Three

Jump for The Next Food Network Star’s take on the mini-challenge, her critiques, and meeting Martha.

So, here we are after round 3. The potato mini challenge was hell. Primarily, because I’m a total over achiever. But also because its taken me a lifetime of blood, sweat and loads of tears to get this opportunity . The on camera test is way more difficult than it looks. I’ve done the morning show thing but its completely different when its just you, the camera, a clock and an entire production team.  My only disappointment this far is that I didn’t receive much feedback on my food.  I was really looking forward to hearing the behind the scenes comments from the judges and as of the last 3 episodes all food comments have been left out.
The marketing challenge felt very rewarding. At the time, we didn’t know what companies the buyers represented. Watching the show last night and realizing what big names these people represented made me appreciate their positive feedback even more.
For the past seven years I’ve worked on developing my own prepared foods business. Being chosen by buyers from such prestigious stores made me feel like all my hard work had paid off. It was emotional to hear that I could really achieve my dreams of having my own retail food operation.
Meeting Martha was such an overwhelming moment. Its not that I’m her biggest fan, but that I  respect her unprecedented success as a female entrepreneur in a very male dominated industry. I have studied every aspect of her career over the years as a case study model for my own business aspirations. She is a pioneer and clearly deserves her props as one of the most successful woman ever. So yes, a bad ass, millionaire, business woman turns this “rigid Diva”  into a spirit finger flailing teen idol.

I just Love Lisa, I think with her looks and her talents, she can be an asset to The Food Network. I feel the only thing she needs to do is keep her eyes open. If you noticed when she was talking to Martha is heer eyes looked almost closed.Lisa’s hairstyle is absolutely perfect for a cook and she looks great in it. But it’s OK Lisa; I Love you anyway.

I agree with the eyes. You squint a lot and close your eyes (or at least it looks like that with the eyeshadow color on the top and sides of your eyes). I also think you dress too fancy for the kitchen with the pearls and the expensive clothes. It’s not necessary. I think you may need contacts or glass so you can keep your eyes opened up more. It draws everyone to your eyes instead of what you are cooking.

Susan94. What is wrong with you? What do Lisa’s eyes have anything to do with her talents? Are you perfect? Send us a picture so that we may pick you apart…
Lisa..you are adorable. And I agree…I want to hear some comments about your food!

    People are so rude!

    GO LISA!

Shes an idiot with her stupid eyes and hilarious poutty lips. If she only knew how stupid she looked ok TV. So arrogant and self serving with her community bs.

I feel like she’s probably a great cook/chef…but I would rather buy her cook books than see her go thru all it takes to make it on foodnetwork. And besides that, she may not even need FN because she’s already a success. So maybe someone else who hasn’t really had the chance at success yet, is what FN needs. I like all the contestents, and cannot wait to see who gets it!

She’s tough to watch. Her combination of quirky head actions, strange looking facial gestures and squinting eyes make it tough to watch her. She appears to have some cooking talent, however, I’d rather find her recipes online than watch her on TV.

Here’s a suggestion. If you have to repeat constantly that you are (1) a perfectionist or (2) an over achiever, my guess is that you are neither.

Lisa looks perfect, squinty eyes, poutty lips and all. In fact, those features resemble a famous beautiful actress- Sandra Bullock. You don’t get too many pretty short-haired chefs. She has a nice body too. She just needs to show it more in her wardrobe. I hope she follows the footsteps of Rachael Ray and Cat Cora by posing for FHM magazine.

I think Lisa is very Retro….I know her food
and presentations were best overall…certainly WAY WAY WAY better than
Aarons. I’m disapointed the show was fixed.
Lisa will be and already is far more sucessful than her unexperienced c0-runners..
she’ll have her own network eventually.
