A Kids Cake for Grown-ups

birthday-cake2.jpg I went to a 1-year-old’s birthday party this weekend not expecting much by way of cake. I mean, I get it, what’s the point of shelling out a bunch of cash for something that’s likely to be prodded by tiny fingers and smeared on plates, furniture, etc.? Well, this hostess is someone after my own heart. The birthday boy had his own confection to make a mess out of while the rest of us feasted on this spiffy castle cake made by Dallas Affaires. (Those turrets? Frosting-covered ice cream cones.) It’s not exactly Ace of Cakes, but it ain’t bad. And it tasted great.
